Backgroundg‐ I have stayed in western Kenya for  more than a half year to start up charcoal project by using the technology that was developed attechnology that was developed at MIT D‐Lab.

‐ However, it turned out that practically the technology did not fit to the field of Kenya due to lack of utilization of local resources. 

1. Goal‐To learn knowledge of charcoal production  from agricultural waste in Nepal where charcoal business goes well in order to fit this to thegoes well in order to fit this to the field of western Kenya. Especially, I want to learn sustainable binder want to learn sustainable binderwhich is the one I could not found as a alternative of cassava in Kenya.

2. Things that I found• BinderThe biggest thing that I found in     Nepal is to learn the most suitable way of binding that clay can work as a binder if you mix it with charcoal by ratio of 1 to 3 by weight.

2. Things that I found• CarbonizationThe way of carbonization at D‐Lab isto use a drum. However, it is nextimpossible for villagers due to cost   of it. 

A thing that I found in Nepal is the cheapest way of carbonization that you dig a hole where you put biomass in and cover it by iron sheet and get charcoal.

2. Things that I found• MoldingOne of bottle neck to make number of charcoal production down ismolding. The one that is developed at D‐Lab is the cheapest, but it is not efficient for mass‐production. 

A thing that I found about moldingin Nepal is necessity of molding formass‐production.

2. Things that I found• Management structureA thing how we can ensure to sustain this project is to find out Entrepreneur who can invest machines to start up charcoal business and put it forward.
