The UIB is the International Union of Bakers and Bakers-

Confectioners, since 1931

It is composed of the National Bakery Associations which meet the requirements established in

Article 1 of our By-laws and have been admitted as members

Currently, 40 countries (28 members and 12 observers), from the 5 Continents, have

joined UIB

We represent more than 300.000 bakeries, employing more than 4

million people throughout the World

• FAO’s logo is a wheat spike surrounded by the motto: “FIAT PANIS” (LET BREAD BE MADE)

•Bread supplies fiber and most ofthe essential nutrients we need for

living: carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins (A, B1, B2, B3, Folic Acid, …) and minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Iodine,

Iron and Zinc

• Bread consumption may help toprevent quite many cardiovascular,

digestive and cancer diseases. Ithas no cholesterol

• Bread is a fundamentallysymbolic food for the main
