1st shopping centre in the country to achieve a NABERS Energy and Water rating
The centre achieved 3 star ratings for Energy and Water
Water-efficiency features include air-conditioning condensate water harvesting and tanks to harvest water for reuse in amenities, sub-metering for high consumption areas and base building water meter monitoring equipment.
Assisting to strategically target future operational efficiency improvements
9
Innovating
In July of 2008 the Centre modified the condensate drainage from 8 of the 14 Air Handling Units to allow for the capture and redirection of the air-conditioning condensate into the centres existing rainwater storage tanks
The harvested water within these tanks is then utilized for the flushing of the centres toilets and cooling towers
875 KL per annum the equivalent of 6481 Bathtubs full of water
The quantity of condensate captured was enough to flush a single toilet 218 000 times over the course of the year

Retrofitting
Storm water is collected from over 1000m² of roof
Water is stored in 4 x 23,000L holding tanks
Captured water goes through a 5 stage filtration system
Treated water is pumped into Centre mains and used in
the centre's amenities (toilets and hand basins)
This project has saved over 102,345L of mains water

Waterless wok pilot at Corio in August 2010
Joint initiative between Tenant, Retailer and Centre Management
Installation cost of $4,000
The expectation was an 80-90% drop in consumption
…the figures thus far show a 97% drop in consumption,
from just over 5,300 litres per day to 193 litres per day
This equates to a reduction from 57L/meal to 2L/meal…staggering!
