Validity
This certificate was first issued on 16th September 2016 and is valid until 16th September 2019
Issue Dated 31st July 2018
Certificate No: EW691
The registered system is suitable for use in low to high rise buildings of residential and hotel accommodation where the
balcony serves a single unit (please refer to conditions of certificate for more information).
Individual design will be submitted for each balcony type required per project.
Provision of Guarding and handrails are outside of the scope of this registration. The system is designed to accommodate
the standard range of fixings. The balcony system does however cover the shear and overturning calculations for the
guarding fixing plate. Confirmation of acceptability will be forwarded by BalconIE once commissioned.
The system has a maintenance free life of over 25 years. It is protected from the environment by a double coating build up
and a waterproof membrane. It can be installed from within the building using a small crawler crane and can be reused in a
different location.
The system can be used to incorporate a winter garden. This is however, outside of the scope of this Registered Detail and
should be discussed separately with individual building control teams.
If the balcony offers alternate escape to adjoining spaces it will be outside of the scope of this registration and fire protection
will need to be considered.
In line with the amendments to Building Regulation 7 (2) which came into effect on December 21 2018, this system
cannot be used on any relevant building with a storey at least 18m above ground level and which contains one or more
dwellings; an institution; or a room for residential purposes (excluding any room in a hostel, hotel or a boarding house).
This includes student accommodation, care homes, sheltered housing, hospitals and dormitories in boarding schools. For
