Thinking about the future is something many of us do even though some of us don’t like to admit it. The process of planning what will become of us in a few weeks, months or even years. We have been exposed to many interpretations of what will happen in the future through different forms of media but that might not be what you believe the future is. Your future could be a cleaner greener planet with everyone driving

electrical cars, recycling and saving electricity in every way they can. Your future could be a Sci-Fi inspired one with man living on Mars and exploring other planets for resources. Or your future could involve another world war leaving certain countries destroyed and putting others into power. That is what this issue is about, exploring different interpretations of the future through the eyes of many different artists.

Enjoy

Plamen Iliev is a very talented Bulgarian artist who has been working with 3D for about nine years but the quality of his work drastically improved in the last three to four years. Iliv’s image, Assassin was the perfect image for the front cover of the second issue not only

because it was exhibited at the Leipzig Games Convention in 2008, or because of the of the coverage it has on different sites. But simply because it looks very futuristic. From the free flowing green hair to the futuristic looking pistols emitting laser beams and even the small digital tattoo on the models right shoulder. The atmosphere the image creates and the simple background made it ideal for a front cover and introduces the viewer nicely into the future theme of this issue.

Cyber Women

Combining 3D elements with photography is a technique that has been implemented incredibly well recently, in most cases without the viewer even knowing. Dominique Fraser at Sublim in Canada has made a great example of this be combining real models with futuristic 3D assets for the front covers of various different magazines.

Simple & CleanWith the population of the planet growing there is a greater chance of increased waste and pollution which could result in unpleasant living conditions for many homes. But what if we found a way to stop this from happening in the future, what if we cleaned polluted scenes and modernised old architecture to leave a cleaner and simpler environment for us to live in.

Will Cars Fly?We have frequently been exposed to scenes of flying cars in many futuristic settings, however even with recent technological ad-vancements we are yet to see any indication of flying vehicles arriving any time soon. Maybe the future of cars is not with flight but with their exterior design and functionality.

What Sci-Fi Tells Us

Space and life forms on different planets are the main aspects of much Science Fiction media. Ships to travel around in space, suits to survive in different atmospheres and weapons to defend against all forms of enemies are just a few things required to be designed futuristically to suit the settings.

Robots In Disguise

A robot is anything powered elec-trically or mechanically capable of doing tasks on its own with the aid of a computer or some form of programming. This is practically the definition of many things in existence today, but one type of robot that is constantly placed in a futuristic scene is a humanoid ro-bot, one that has similar features as a human being.

House Of The Future

There is an underlying understanding in us all that much will change in the future and one of these is the design on a house. The classic triangular shaped roof with a square base will probably cease to exist at some point in time but what design will replace it? Will we all live in a round igloo like house or will we all have square houses similar? Who knows? That’s what our imagination is for.
