Performance Based VideosThis is when the artist perform their song in a studio or a concert. It
does not even have to be the artist singing. An example of a performance based video is Listen By Beyonce. This
is an amazing an powerful song performed by Beyonce in the studio. In the song, I can hear drums, voice, repeat and piano.
Narrative Based Videos Narrative based music videos follows a storyline throughout the whole song. It
reflects to the lyrics of the song. The protagonist is usually the singer or an actor. An example of narrative based video is ‘Grenade’ by ‘Bruno Mars’. The video storyline focus on Bruno Mars dragging a piano around Los Angeles in
order to play a song for his girlfriend. By him carrying the heavy piano symbolises his relationship as a heavy burden. Throughout the video, people were questioning and laughing at him asking him why he was carrying the piano.
Concept Based A concept based music video is a music video which has no structured narrative and
the lyrics do not match what is happening in the music video at all. In concept based, the artist tries to portray in the music video that relates to the
lyrics of the song. An example of a concept based video is Where is the love by Black Eyed Peas. This is because in the song, they talk about a topic. A concept based music video create an unusual and memorable video, which
promotes the song and the artist as well.
