Patricia Rovzar Gallery is pleased to present “Suspensions” by Carrie McGee. A reception for the artist wil l be held on Thursday, October 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The exhibition wil l continue through October 31st.

“Suspensions” is a collection of 13 new dimensional works that combine acryl ic with various mixed media including rust, oi l, and gold leaf. The work explores variation that can occur within repeated forms by using different techniques and materials. Uti l izing transparent plastics as a ground, McGee experiments with natural and chemical processes, such as rust and oxida-tion, to create luminous works that emanate a meditative pulse, and focus on the cyclical patterns in nature. The turn of seasons, along with the time lag process of creating, commingles to form a heightened sense of the pres-ent moment within each object. Physically, these works emphasize “floated” and “hanging” presentations in which the interplay of l ight, shadow, and reflection participate in the nature of each object.

Carrie McGee’s accomplishments include a Visual Arts Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts/Southern Arts Federation, as well as a residency fellowship from the Christoph Merian Foundation in Basel, Switzer-land. Her paintings and constructions have been exhibited regularly for the

past 25 years and can be found in numerous public and private collections.
