Forensic Anthropologist
• A forensic anthropologist is a person who studies the remains of a human.
What do they do?(DETERMINING)
• How a person dies• Race• Sex• Age• Time of death• Type of occupation
in which they worked
• The health status of a victim
How a person dies
• Bone Cuts• Broken Bones• Postmortem (no signs
in healing; after death wounds) and Antemortem (before death; broken bone)
Identity(RACE,SEX,Age)
• A person’s sex can be determined on how big their bone’s are, and the way the areas around the muscle attachment are lager, and rugged.
• A male’s bones would be larger than a female’s

• Dental formation and eruption can tell the age
of a person after death
• Sometimes a disease may cause a person’s
age to be mislead; in this case anthropologists
use a range of age

Other Forensics
• After determining the age, race, and sex of the victim a Forensic Artist may create a visual image of the victim (this is called facial reconstruction).
Becoming an Anthropologist(Education)
• Prepare yourself for at least seven years of college
• A PhD is required, though some people get their BA (Bachelor of Arts) then go on to the next degree
Becoming an Anthropologist(work field)
• While becoming a Forensic Anthropologist, you should pursue many different jobs
• Military• Medical Examiners• In Universities • Field Archeology
Becoming an Anthropologist(Working with the law)
• If you are planning to work in crime labs with police detectives and lawyers, should study law, as you might have to go up against a jury.
