• Established by the decision of the 4th Pan-European Conference held in 1998 in Aarhus (Denmark);

• Family of RECs : RECCEE, REC Moldova, REC Russia, REC Caucasus, CAREC;

• Operational since 2001

• The regional organization of international character;

• HQ in Almaty, Kz,

• COs: Kz, Kg, Tj, Uz, Trm;

• Annual Budget ̃̃�� 2,2 mln Euro

• Board of Directors - 13 members: national MoEs, NGOs, OSCE, Germany and science

Mission: to assist in addressing environmental problems in CA through the provision of:

- dialogue platforms for multi-state and - sectoral communication;

- know-how, knowledge and technology exchange;

- supporting of the development and application of innovative environmental policies, approaches and practices;

- promotion of public participation in environmental decision-making and;

- exchange of information in the region
