The prison in Zweibrücken was built between

1839 and 1845 as a Bavarian county jail

Since then it had been expanded extensively

and still we continue expansion and

modernization.

Actually 331 men and 126 women are

imprisoned in Zweibrücken.

Our institution is very active and responsible,

concerning the detention of young women

and men.

The institution is employing 321 women

and men of different professions at the

moment.

We are the “central training institution” of

Rhineland-Palatinate. Male and female

prisoners are trained together in many various

professions.
