Venue construction

• Big Five: Only 5 new venues will be constructed for the Games (Temporary and Permanent)

• Big Five: 1 venue (Aquatic Centre) already in planning, 2 permanent, 2 temporary venues

• 27 existing sites and venues to be used• Only 5 existing venues require

permanent works

Archery

• Venue: Newlands Cricket Stadium

• Legacy: Cricket venue with 20,000 seats

• Capacity (Games): 10,000

• Status: Existing venue, temporary works required

Athletics/Ceremonies

• Venue: Cape Town Olympic Stadium

• Capacity (Legacy): 20,000 seat athletics stadium

• Capacity (Games): 75,000

• Status: New venue expanded temporarily for the Olympic Games

Badminton/ Gymnastics (Rhythmic)

• Venue: Good Hope Centre

• Legacy: Multi-purpose exhibition and events venue

• Capacity (Games): 6,000

• Status: Existing venue, temporary works required

Basketball

• Venue: • 1. Olympic Basketball Arena

• Status: Existing river and dam. Olympic Rowing Course planned.

Cycling (Track & BMX)

• Venue: Olympic VeloCentre (Bellville Velodrome and Bellville Stadium)

• Capacity (Legacy): 3,000/5,000

• Capacity (Games): 6,000/6,000

• Status: Existing indoor velodrome and outdoor stadium.

Cycling (Mountain Bike)

• Venue: Table Mountain Route

• Legacy: Resume use as public mountain bike and competition venue

• Capacity (Games): 3,000

• Status: Existing mountain bike route used during Absa Cape Epic.

Cycling (Road)

• Venue: Olympic Loop (City Centre – Green Point – Sea Point)

• Legacy: Resume use as public roads

Capacity (Games): 2,000

• Status: Existing Cape Argus Cycle Tour route

Equestrian

• Venue: Kenilworth Racecourse

• Legacy: Resume use as racecourse and events venue with 4,000 grand stand seats
