CANADIAN ARTISTS

HELEN MCNICOLL

HELEN MCNICOLL

Helen was a Canadian impressionist painter. She was born in Toronto and became deaf at a young age. Being an impressionist painter she used relatively small but visible strokes. They paint in a way that allows you to see the lighting on the painting. She used only paint on her pictures. I liked this picture because of the lighting and her delicate pictures that had people in them.

MICHAEL TICKNER

MICHAEL TICKNER

Michael was first noticed for his paintings when he was 8 years old, when he entered an art gallery in London. Later Michael started a new style of artwork, which is making him world-renowned. He has taken primitive a step farther and added depth and perspective. He calls it contemporary/primitive. Michael uses ink washes also fine detailed ink drawings. I enjoyed his work because of the different colours that he uses.

JOE AVERAGE

JOE AVERAGE

He was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Average frequently donates work to charitable causes, such as Vancouver's annual Art for Life  auction. Average is known for his cheerful, colorful, cartoon-like work, including images of flowers, animals and insects, and people. Joe usually uses paint on his pictures. I like his pictures because they are simple and unique.
