What is CAIR?

A secure internet-based immunization registry for California

Tracks patient immunization and TB testinformation

Reduces missed opportunities

Increases immunization coverage rates

Used by thousands of health care providersand other agencies in California

The CAIR system is currently made up of 10 regions within California.

Coming 2015…..you will be able to search for patients throughout all of California!

Benefits of CAIR

Shows what shots are due (uses up-to-date national recommendations: AAP/ACIP)

Keeps patient shot and TB test information in one central location

Prints CA Immunization Record (Yellow Card) with current information

Tracks your vaccine inventory

Generates Reminder and Recallpostcards/lists

User Confidentiality

Use CAIR only for your assigned duties

Use CAIR only from work computers

Use CAIR only to find records of patients visiting your clinic/agency

Keep your CAIR password confidential

Log off from CAIR when you step away fromthe computer and at the end of your shift

Do not purposely enter false information

Keep updated on information posted on the CAIR login screen

Do not use your CAIR login from a past job (ask CAIR to transfer your account if you need CAIR at your new job)

Understand that CAIR tracks records you open

Disclosure Process

All patients/parents must be given theCAIR Registry Notice (Disclosure form) before you enter their record into CAIR!

It tells the patient/parent about CAIR and their rights

It is an “opt out” process – the form does not need to be signed

Patient/parent must be given a copy if they want it

Understand your clinic’s disclosure process

Decline or Start Sharing/Information Request Form

Use when the patient/parent: Refuses to have their/their child’s information

shared through CAIR Wants to know which clinics/agencies have viewed

their/their child’s record in CAIR Wants to review or correct their/their child’s

information in CAIR Put the original in patient chart and give a copy to the

patient/parent

Enter risks, waivers, reactions

Print patient reports(e.g., Yellow Card)

Now that I’m trained, how do I access CAIR?

Using your CAIR Provider ID and User ID, login to: http://usertraining.cairweb.org/ and confirm the Training Date you attended training.

Regular and Power trainings will need to be confirmed separately - login and confirm a Regular training first, then login and confirm a Power training.

An automated email with your temporary password will be sent directly to you (if your email is on file) or to your Site Contact (if your email is not on file).
