About MILO COLOURS AWARDSMILO, the name behind all successful sports events held in the Maldives during the recent years have stood up with the great aim of appreciating and recognizing the talents of young athletes in the Island Nation, to build up an image of winners from the very young age through the schools or during school days.
MILO COLOURS AWARDS will be an annual recognition event held on a grand scale appreciating the best talents and best sports personalities starting from school days. Appreciating and RECOGNIZING the FUTURE HEROES TODAY.
MILO COLOURS AWARDS will consist of a nomination procedure, where the schools will nominate the best talent of each sport to the evaluation committee, whereas the Ministry and the relevant sectors will go through a verification process from relevant sports NGO’s before annoucing the Young Winner of the specific sport.

History of Milo Encouraging an Active Lifestyle Through School Sports (Sri Lanka)Nestlé Lanka has been committed to developing school sports in Sri Lanka for well over 15 years. We have been an energetic partner in the school sports arena, supporting different sporting events through our Milo brand be it swimming, cricket, netball, athletics or rugby.
The grand finale of most of these sporting events is the Sri Lanka Schools Colours Awards (Milo Colours) which honour the best sports stars in recognition of their performance. These awards are unequivocally accepted as the ultimate acknowledgement of achievement in school sports in Sri Lanka today.
MILO strive to instill an interest in sports among youth for reasons of health, wellness, discipline and leadership. By identifying, nurturing and fine-tuning young talent, we have been able to contribute to raising the overall standards of sports at school level and empower the lives of hundreds of thousands of promising athletes every year.

Categories for MALDIVES : MILO COLOURS AWARD 2014

The award is divided into 5 categories. They are:
a. Under 12 award categoryb. Under 14 award categoryc. Under 16 award categoryd. Under 18 award categorye. Special award category including achievements at International competitions.
NB: age shall be calculated up to 31st Dec. 2013.
For example: For under 12 award the applicant shall be 12 years or below 14 years of age by 31st Dec 2013.

INTRODUCTION AND PROCEDURES
This Annual Award is open for all school children in the country. Those schools who apply for this award shall fill in the Application Form, which will be available on the following websites and at the reception of the Ministry of Education. All applications shall be submitted through the school.

Application and Documentation:
If an applicant has participated in more than one international/national competition in one particular sport then the highest total marls for the category shall be considered
a) Interschool Sports Competitions. These include competitions organized by NSAs(National Sports Associations) and other accepted Sports bodies of the sport. (25 marks)
b) National Competitions organized by NSAs. This include National Championships, competitions organized by NSAs or other such related bodies. (30 marks)
c) International Competitions (administered by NSAs.) These include competitions organized by the NSAs and also International Games, Competitions and Championships. (45marks)

Application and Documentation:
2. The applicants shall fill in the application Form.
3. Application Forms can be downloaded from the website www.coloursawards.mv
4. Confirmation of participation in all activities shall be accompanied by valid documents from schools and NSAs
5. The applicant should be approved and application sealed by the schools and NSAs
6. A school can submit maximum of 10 applications (5 boys and 5 girls) from each sport..
7. All applications submitted to Ministry of Education shall be evaluated by a 5 member Technical Committee appointed by the Ministry of Education.
8. If a student excels in more than one sport separate applications shall be filled in for each sport.
9. Award from each sports for each category shall be awarded on basis of points scored (from highest to lowest)
10. Minimum of 50 points shall be required for an applicant to qualify for the award.
11. First place and runner up (2ndplace) shall be selected for the award from each sport for each age category.

A Night of Grand Celebration with the annoucing of future Heroes on a special fuction held in Male’ for the winners of MILO COLOURS AWARDS 2014.
The event will be colourfully held on an evening during August 2014, and a new era of building a healthy lifestyle community will begin with the event MILO COLOURS AWARDS 2014.
