BodyAvailable in Full Lug andWafer style. Face-to-facedimensions comply with DIN3202, part 3, K1(corresponds to ISO 5752-20) and API 609.
Mounting pad ISO5211, part 1Designed for easyadaptation to pneumatic orelectric actuators, gearoperators, and handles.
Nameplate Nameplate is permanentlyattached to body providingdisc, seat, and shaft materialspecifications for quickreference.PTFE BushingsThe PTFE non-corrosive,non-metallic bushing arestrategically located, providing maximum shaftsupport, centralizedalignment for a thru-shaftjournal corrosion andminimize bushing andfrictional torque.
Shaft SealThe bi-directional shaft sealprevents external
contamination of stem areawhile providing back-up
for the primary shaftseal formed by thedisc/seat interface.
One-Piece ShaftThe high strength centralizedblow-out proof Thru-Shaftdesign prevents discdeflection and providesmaximum torsionalcapabilities while maintaininga thin disc profile thus maxi-mizing effective flow area.
Pinned discDisc is attached to shaft bypins which minimizes flowturbulence, resulting inhigher Kv ratings.
DiscDisc edge is machined andpolished to assure leak-proofpositive shut-off whileminimizing operating torque.
Phenolic BackedSeatProvides additional supportmaking it non-collapsible.Secured between body andflange making seatreplacement simple and fast.No flange gaskets areneeded. 360 ° sealingprotects components frommedia and provides primaryshaft seal. Available inEPDM, Viton, and Buna-N.

InstallationAssure gasket surfaces are free of defects.Valves should not be mounted between flangeshaving defective mating surfaces and shouldnever be used to align improperly positioned pipe. The distance between pipe flanges should bechecked to assure sufficient clearance for valveinstallation.
The valve disc should be positioned inside thebody when being placed between flanges, however, not fully closed.
For wafer valves, the valve must be visuallycentred with respect to the flange faces, while lugvalves may be centred with flange bolts. The valve should be operated to assure thatbinding or interference is eliminated. Flangebolting should be tightened gradually. The flangejoint is complete when the body bottoms againstthe flange faces evenly without gaps. Boltsshould then be tightened sufficiently to preventloosening of the joint.

Removal of valvePrior to loosening the flange bolts, follow items 1-4:1. Drain piping.2. Vent line to relieve pressure and close valve.
a. disconnect air or electric lines from actuator b. loosen flange bolts
3. Secure necessary lifting equipment to valveassembly.
4. Remove flange bolts and carefully removevalve.
Caution should be taken due to possibleemission of process material from piping.
The photos and descriptions contained in this brochure are solely intended as an indication. Watts Industries reserves the right to make technical and design changesto its products without prior notice.
MaintenanceWatts BF butterfly valves are designed such thatperiodic maintenance or lubrication is notrequired throughout the life of the valve. Thefollowing practices are suggested:Periodically:1. Operate the valve from fully open to fully
closed.2. Check all fasteners for evidence of loosening
and tighten as required.3. Inspect valve and surrounding area for
previous or existing leakage at flange faces orshaft connections.
4. Check piping and/or wiring to actuators andrelated equipment for looseness, and correctas needed.
