Burlesque Bridal Shower When girls just wanna have
fun, watch out!
At this beautiful home bridal
shower, pink and black were
the colors of the summery
day! The bride’s dear friend
hosted twenty four ladies to a
poolside celebration of love,
joy, and a few naughty
surprises!
The luncheon table was the
showpiece of the day,
bustling with a bold, playful,
femininity that perfectly fitted
the bride-to-be!

Burlesque Bridal Shower
You might say that 2011 was “The Year of the Bridesmaid.”
The blockbuster movie of the same name gave these
ladies so much attention...and what is a Hollywood
Wedding Movie without an over-the-top lavish shower!?
I’m not sure if our hostess saw that movie (I am actually having a
little laugh picturing her doing so!) but she
certainly set her sights on creating a shower that you might see
on film and say, “Wow, do people REALLY do that!?”
The event was held in the early afternoon at our hostess’ private
hillside estate. Her back yard pool area was
overlooked by a hillside of pink flowers, planted a month earlier in
anticipation of this pretty-in-pink affair.
Guests arrived and mingled poolside sipping strawberry-
cucumber cocktails spiked with a delicious basil vodka.
Appetizers included indulgent truffle fries, shots of red
gazpacho, and curried lobster in cucumber cups.
Entertainment included a jazzy four piece band, a glittery henna
artist and a tarot card reader, but a sexy surprise also was
planned after lunch was served and gifts were opened.
The home’s pool was filled with pink beach balls and shades of
pink balloons were just everywhere, casting a pink glow that no
traditional event lighting could accomplish on a bright summer
day!

But back to the table-scape!
Under the home’s existing pergola
and a canopy of pink balloons were
three standard 8’x40” tables draped
in a raspberry satin linen. Twenty
four black chivari chairs with black
hard pads surrounded the now 24’
long table. Each chair came with a
hot pink rice paper parasol to shield
from the sun while sitting or mingling
on the grounds.
Down the center of the table was 20
feet of burlesque inspired
decadence! Vase after vase of pink
roses with nearly black lilies were
intertwined with lush black feather
boas and oversized diamond
crystals.
Place settings were high gloss ebony
chargers, bubblegum satin napkins
tied around a pastel pink fan,
slender dragonfly flatware,
cosmopolitan water glasses and
black onyx goblets for wine.

The table was loved by the ladies
who attended and it made them feel
like glamorous starlets themselves!
The table functioned as it should and
the lavish décor only enhanced the
feeling of luxury and a fun day with
the girls!
After dining on a first course of a
watermelon, feta and arugula salad
with blueberries and champagne
dressing, the main course continued
with lime scallion salmon, herb risotto,
and asparagus. For dessert a light
rose sorbet was accompanied by
sugar cookies, but a pink polka-dot
box of handmade cherry, apricot,
and hazelnut truffles was presented
as well with the option: enjoy it now,
or take it home!
Of course gifts were opened and to
everyone’s surprise a pair of male
dancers came to spice up the
entertainment a bit. That got lots of
the ladies dancing and really
enjoying themselves!
