STEP 1: from the home screen under projects click on New
Grids
STEP 2: from the Ribbon under the Architecture tab click on Grid (gr) _ click in the drawing area and draw a vertical line _ press esc twice
STEP 3: select the Grid _ from the Ribbon click on Copy (co) _ click in the drawing area _ move the mouse horizontal _ click to place the copy
STEP 4: repeat steps 2 & 3 to create two horizontal grid lines

STEP 5: from the Ribbon under the Home tab click on Floor _ from the Draw panel click on Rectangle
STEP 6: draw a rectangle by snapping to the inter-sections of the grid lines

STEP 7: click on each one of the Locks to con-strain the slab to the grids
STEP 8: from the Ribbon click on the Check to fi nish the fl oor

STEP 9: select a Grid line _ click on the dimension Text _ change the dimension text to verify that the slab is constrained to the Grid line
STEP 10: from the Project Browser _ double click on East
STEP 11: select the Level 1 Slab _ type shortcut CO(copy) _ copy to Level 2 (snap Endpoint to Endpoint)
STEP 12: select the Level 2 Grid line _ click on the dimension Text _ change the dimension text to verify that the slab is constrained to Level 2(Note:Level 2 Height tag will automatically update)

STEP 13: from the Toolbar above the Ribbon _ click on the 3D View button
Save the Project fi le in your Class-01 folder as your initials-class-01.rvt

STEP 14: from the Ribbon click on the lower half of the Floor button _ select Slab Edge from the menu _ select the lower Edge of the slab
STEP 15: click on the Flip Control Arrows to mirror the profi le
STEP 16: from the big “R” _ scroll over New _ click on Family

STEP 17: select Profi le from the list of templates _ click on Open
STEP 18: from the Properties panel _ set the Profi le Usage to: Slab Edge
STEP 19: from the Ribbon click on Line _ from the Draw panel click on Rectangle
STEP 20: draw a 6” x 6” rectangle in the upper right quadrant as shown in image 20 _ press ESC twice
Save the Profi le Family fi le in your Class-01 folder as Slab Edge 6x6.rfa

STEP 21: from the Ribbon click on: Load into Project
STEP 22: select the slab edge _ type keyboard shortcut PR (properties) _ from the properties window click on Edit Type
STEP 23: click on Duplicate
STEP 24: name it: Slab Edge 6x6 _ click OK

STEP 25: change the Profi le to: Slab Edge 6x6 _ click OK
STEP 26: type PR (properties) _ from the properties window set the Vertical Profi le Offset = 6”
STEP 27: from the Ribbon click on Add/Remove Segments _ select the remaining 3 lower edges of the Slab
STEP 28: from the big “R” select Export _ scroll over Images and Animations _ select Image
