TOWARDS SHARED PROSPERITYBUDGET 2015:

John Lyons TDDear Resident,People and communities around the country arebeginning to feel the benefit of the economicrecovery. Labour is determined to ensure that thesebenefits are felt by every household and, inparticular, by families, older people and vulnerableindividuals.

The first phase of the recovery is complete, theeconomy is growing and there is significant jobcreation. This has allowed us under Budget 2015to move to the second phase of the recovery –to begin to restore living standards forhouseholds across the country through apackage of tax relief for low and middle incomeearners, investment in housing, education andhealth and a number of targeted increases inkey social supports.

Christmas can be an expensive time forfamilies and households. For this reason, we havesecured under Budget 2015 a bonus of 25% for all long-term welfarerecipients including pensioners and carers. The Christmas Bonus is being paid inthe first two weeks of December and will help support over 1.16 million people.

How will the 25% Christmas Bonus help my family?

A couple who are bothPensioners with one inreceipt of the contributoryState Pension and theother in receipt of thenon-contributory StatePension will receive a€112.33 Christmas Bonus.

A couple with two childrenwhere one partner is onJobseeker's Allowance with aQualified Adult Rate for theirpartner will receive a €93.10Christmas Bonus.

A Carer under theage of 66 withtwo children willreceive a €65.90Christmas Bonus.

Who will qualify for the 25% Christmas Bonus?Around 1.16 million people who are on a long term social welfare payment will benefit including those on:

� Disability Allowance

� Long-term Jobseeker’s Allowance

� Domicillary Care Allowance

� Employment Support Payments – eg Back to WorkAllowance

� Employment programmes – Community Employment,Job Initiative, Rural Social Scheme, Tus, Gateway

� Jobbridge and Back to Education Allowance(15 months unemployed)

� State Pension

� Invalidity and Widow(er)’s Pensions

� Guardian’s Payments

� One-Parent Family Payment

� Deserted Wife’s Benefit
