1.0 Introduction

In this project, we are required to design a 2-storey bungalow which consists of basic spaces programming as below:

1. 1 master bedroom with attached bathroom2. Minimum 3 bedrooms3. 2 bathrooms4. Kitchen5. Living hall6. Dining area7. 1 store room.

This project is an integrated component where it involves structural theories, force calculation and basic structural proposal. It aims to allow student to expose to the demonstration and understanding of building structure.

After the design proposal as a team, we are required to analyse at least 6 beams and 3 columns as our individual works. Throughout the exercise, we are expected to learn about the calculation of different loads such as UDL and PL, and how forces distributed from roof to foundation.

2.0 Design Brief

Structural components:-Beam size : 0.2m x 0.3m-Wall height : 3m-Wall thickness : 0.15m-Slab thickness : 0.15m-Column size : 0.3m x 0.3m

Materials:-Reinforced Concrete density : 24 kN/m2-Brick density : 19 kN/m2

Loads factor (ultimate load calculation):-Live Load: 1.6-Dead Load: 1.4

Live Load for spaces:-Roof : 0.5 kN/m2-Living Room : 2kN/m2-Dining Area: 2kN/m2-Kitchen : 3kN/m2-Bedroom : 1.5kN/m2-Toilet: 2kN/m2-Office: 2.5kN/m2-Gym : 5kN/m2-Storeroom : 2.5kN/m2-Corridor / Walkway : 2kN/m2

Dead Load: -Roof : 1 kN/m2

*Non-dedicated space assumed as walkway*
