FRUIT INGREDIENTS
Acerola
The acerola cherry is a stone fruit (or drupe) with white-yellowish
pulp. The color of its skin ranges from green to red depending on
the degree of ripeness. Acerola has a pleasant, slightly sour
taste. The fruit is immediately processed into fruit puree or
concentrate after harvest to preserve its valuable vitamin C. The
acerola cherry has one of the highest natural vitamin C
contents of all known fruits – roughly 30 times higher than
orange juice. In addition to healthy vitamin C, the acerola cherry
also contains large amounts of riboflavin and is entitled to
nutritional claims according to the European Health Claim and
Food Information Regulation and/or EFSA expert opinions.
Niagro from Brasil is the world’s largest acerola producer and
specialist with over 25 years of experience. We do have the
following types of acerola available:

Apple
The Morgenduft apple traditionally comes from southern
Switzerland and is nowadays frequently found in the North of
Italy. The sweet-sweet taste of this apple is good in many varieties
such as bakery, sauce industry, but also in retail packages. Our
Italian partner only works with contracted growers to guarantee
the high quality. All products are air dried, suitable for various
applications and allergen free. In addition, it is also possible to
supply organic material. Apple we have in the following types:
Blocks
Wedges

FRUIT INGREDIENTS
Banana
Bananas are an absolute favorite with consumers. The tropical
and subtropical latitudes between 30° north and 30° south offer
the plants ideal growth conditions, as they require a constant
change of sun and rain. Bananas are considered to be one of the
best sources of energy. They contain three natural sugars:
sucrose, glucose, and fructose. These are each released in the
body at different times, which keeps the blood glucose level
stable for a long time. Bananas are a source of potassium,
vitamin B6 and dietary fiber. The fruit also contains minerals
and trace elements such as phosphorus, iron, and zinc. We do
supply banana in the following variant:
Puree
Blueberry
For more than 10,000 years, the wild bushes have enriched the
countryside of the Quebec region and the Atlantic coast of
Canada. Wild blueberries contain less water and have
multilayered aroma with sweet as well as slightly spicy notes.
The fruits are rich in anthocyanins, antioxidative plant pigments
that protect the body’s cells from free radicals. Blueberries are a
source of nutritional fiber and contain vitamins A and C as well
as potassium, phosphorus, and magnesium. Blueberries are
robust and easy to process, do not burst open during baking or
other production processes, and the final product benefits from
their healthy image. Our partner Oxford Frozen Foods is the
world’s largest supplier of frozen wild blueberries in many
variants such as:

FRUIT INGREDIENTS
Boysenberry
Boysenberry is a cross between raspberry, blackberry and
loganberry and combines the best of these three fruits. This deep
red berry has a sweet, slightly acidic aroma. The "invention" of
the fruit dates from 1920 and is named after the Californian
breeder Rudolph Boysen and is now mainly grown in New
Zealand. The high content of vitamin C, protective vegetable
pigments (anthocyanins), iron and dietary fibers justify the
reputation of the boysenberry as a real super fruit. Contined
cooperates with Boysenberries New Zealand Limited, the
world's largest exporter. Boysenberries we have available in the
following variants:
Puree
IQF

Cherry
Tart cherries are becoming more and more popular, because
their taste and the vital substances they contain are superior to
many other fruit varieties. One very special variety is the
Montmorency tart cherry cultivated in the region around
Travers City, Michigan. The composition of its ingredients is
unique, and their balanced ratio makes this a real power-fruit.
Research has shown that eating this cherry can trigger healing
effects. The anthocyanins it contains, which are responsible for
the dark red color, are valuable antioxidants and can also
contribute to reducing pain and inflammation. The melatonin
content helps to improve our natural sleep rhythm. Advanced
drying technology results in optimal moisture content,
combined with sweetness and an authentic fruit flavor. We do
have cherries in the following variants from our partner Cherry

FRUIT INGREDIENTS
Cranberry
These berries from mainly North America grow on low,
evergreen groundcover plants. Cranberries are harvested in a
special way: the fields in which they grow are flooded. This causes
the berries to break off the shrub and float up to the surface
because they contain four air chambers inside, from where they
are gathered by suction. Consumers value the berries for their
versatile qualities: besides their flavor and bright red color,
their health-promoting effects make the fruit a sought-after
product. Contined is a trusted partner of the world market
leader Ocean Spray. This company was founded in 1930 by three
independent cranberry farmers and is now a cooperative that
unites more than 700 producers of the small red fruit. We do
have cranberries in the following variants:
Puree
IQF

Goldenberry
Goldenberries are golden-yellow berries that grow in the sunny
Andean regions of Ecuador and Colombia in South America. They
are also known as Physalis, Inca Berries, or Cape Gooseberries.
The herbaceous climbing plants grow to a height of 1.5 meters.
Once the goldenberry blossoms have been fertilized, their sepals
continue to grow and form a husk around the berries so that they
are already provided with beautiful packaging by nature. The
fruits are later carefully harvested by hand. Goldenberries are
clearly recognizable by their unique taste and balanced sugar-
acidity profile. They have natural antioxidants, iron and
phosphorus, lots of vitamin C (about 30 mg/100 g) and vitamin
B1, are rich in fibres and a natural source of provitamin A.
Terrafertil, the world’s largest producer of goldenberries,
ensures consistently high product quality, and supplies Contined
with goldenberries in the following variants:

FRUIT INGREDIENTS
Grapefruit
The grapefruit – a cross between the orange and the pomelo –
was discovered on the island of Barbados in the early 18th
century. Around 130 years later, farmers in Florida first cultivated
them commercially. Today, grapefruits are grown in nearly all
subtropical countries where other citrus fruits are also produced.
The fruits of the grapefruit tree are round, have a yellow or pink
peel, and a diameter of 10–15 cm. The pulp is divided into
segments. Its flesh can be yellow, pink, or even red. The taste of
a grapefruit ranges from very sour to sweet and sour, and
depending on the variety can also be slightly to markedly bitter.
With a vitamin C content of 41 mg per 100 g, few calories, almost
no fat, and a lot of pectin (fiber), the grapefruit is among the
healthiest fruits of them all. We source our grapefruit juice
concentrate from Granor Passi. The company is headquartered
in South Africa, one of the best fruit-growing regions in the world.
We do supply grapefruit in the following variants:
Concentrate
Guava
The guava is a berry fruit in the myrtle family. The inside has a
meaty consistency and contains a lot of seeds. Guavas are native
to the tropical regions of the American continent, but are also
cultivated in South Africa, West India and some Mediterranean
countries. The taste of the guava is hard to describe - it is very
close to a good mix of figs, pears, quinces and strawberries.
Guavas grow on trees that reach a height of up to 13 meters. The
fruit is ripe for harvesting three to four months after flowering.
Guavas are impressive because of their abundance of important
minerals (potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron) and a high
vitamin C content: 100 g of the fruit delivers as much as 273 mg
- four times as much as in kiwis. We buy it from our partner
Granor Passi. We supply guava in the following variants:
Puree
FRUIT INGREDIENTS
Lemon
Lemons are yellow citrus fruits with a sour taste caused by
citric acid and also contain a high concentration of vitamin C.
Lemons are mainly grown in Argentina and Spain. After 4 to 5
years on the field, trees start to yield, after which the peak of
production takes place after 9 to 20 years. We have lemon in the
following variants:
NFC
Concentrate
Lime
These citrus fruits originally come from Malaysia. Today, they
are cultivated in India, Sri Lanka, Egypt, the USA, Mexico, and
Brazil. Tropical and subtropical climates provide ideal conditions
for limes, which grow on evergreen trees in the rhododendron
family of plants. One tree can deliver up to 1,000 limes a year.
Compared to lemons, limes are bright green, rather round in
shape, and have a more intense taste. This fruit is particularly
valuable for boosting the immune system. It is also noteworthy
for the minerals and trace elements it contains, along with folic
acid, vitamin A and vitamin E. Lime juice concentrate is often
used to impart a special acidity profile to a wide variety of foods.
We do supply lime in the following variants:
Concentrate
FRUIT INGREDIENTS
Mango
Mango is a stone fruit and grows on a tree that can soar to heights
of up to 30 meters. Mangos are now cultivated in nearly all
tropical and subtropical countries. A leathery peel, green and
sometimes with red markings, surrounds the juicy fruit pulp and
the flat, large mango pit. A mature mango tastes wonderfully
sweet and is considered very healthy despite its high sugar
content – because mangoes are rich in vitamin C, vitamin E, and
B vitamins, e.g., vitamin B1 and folic acid. Among all varieties of
fruit, this exotic treat delivers the highest content of provitamin
A, which plays an important role in cell renewal, the body’s
defenses, and the visual process. Mangoes are very versatile. We
do have mango in the following variants:
Puree

Orange
The orange is a cross between the tangerine and the pomelo. The
sweet citrus fruit probably arrived in the 15th century with
Portuguese ships sailing from India to Europe, where it has been
highly sought after ever since. The orange is considered as a
classic supplier of vitamin C (approx. 50 mg/100 g) and can meet
the daily requirement with just one piece of fruit. In addition, it
contains a number of B vitamins and the carotene, a precursor
of vitamin A, which is particularly important for a healthy
nervous system and for the visual process. Contined oranges
come from South Africa and Mexico. Our partner Granor Passi
offers juice concentrates and orange cells made from the best
fresh products. We do have orange in the following variants:
Concentrate
FRUIT INGREDIENTS
Passion fruit
Passion fruit originally came from Brazil, Paraguay, and
Argentina. Today, it is cultivated in tropical and subtropical
regions worldwide. From a botanical point of view, the passion
fruit is a berry. The ripe fruit is yellow, oval in shape, about 10 cm
long, and has a smooth skin. Passionfruit has an aromatic, sweet
taste and contains besides a high vitamin C content, large
quantities of the B vitamins niacin and riboflavin. Niacin has an
antioxidant effect and is important for the regeneration of the
skin, muscles, and nerves. Riboflavin supports metabolic
functions. Ecuador and Peru are the largest exporters of passion
fruit concentrate and juice concentrate. They cover 80–85% of the
global market demand. Our partner Quicornac operates
production sites in both countries. As a family business, it has
more than 25 years of experience. We do supply passion fruit in
the following variants:

Prune
The original variety of Californian plum was imported to
California in the 19th century by Louis Pellier from his home
country, France. The plants found ideal conditions in the fertile
valleys warmed by California sunshine. In late summer, the fruit
has achieved perfect firmness and sugar content – and this is
when the plums are harvested from the tree. Prunes contain a
unique combination of nutrients that make them interesting
beyond their taste. They contain a high proportion of sorbitol as
well as fiber and are rich in vitamin A, copper, potassium and
contain a lot of natural antioxidants. Thanks to their combination
of sorbitol and fruit acids, prunes can even help to lower salt and
sugar content in products. Our partner Sunsweet is based in
California, a cooperative of more than 300 farmers, and world’s
most popular prune brand and provide the following variants:

FRUIT INGREDIENTS
Raisin
Ours raisins come from California and are dried grapes of the
Thompson Seedless variety. They are dried on the vine (DOV) or
on the ground. They have a slight caramel flavor, from the fruit
sugar caramelizing in the sun during the drying process. Due to
their low pH, their natural sugars, and the lower water activity,
raisins are not very microbiologically sensitive, and fulfill the
highest quality and specification standards. Our partner Sun-
Maid has more than a century of experience in the product, and
operates the world’s largest raisin and dried-fruit factory. We do
supply raisin in the following variants:
Paste

Tomato
The origins of the tomato lie in Central and South America, where
it was cultivated by the Mayans and other peoples. We have
Christopher Columbus and the Spanish conquistadors, who
brought the plant to Europe, to thank for its cultivation in our
latitudes. Centuries of cultivation have led to the existence of
about 2,500 varieties worldwide. The fine red fruit has become
a versatile favorite in nearly every cuisine around the world. Its
high-quality ingredients support the health of the entire body.
Tomatoes are said to provide protection from heart disease and
arteriosclerosis – thanks to lycopene, a substance with
antioxidant properties. Tomatoes are also an important supplier
of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. They are low-calorie,
healthy and are making their way into more and more food
categories. Our partners include Morningstar and Unfasa as
well as some of the foremost manufacturers in Spain. We do
supply tomato in the following variants.

NUT INGREDIENTS
Almond
Almonds are regarded as healthy, nutritious products. With a
fat content of approximately 50%, natural almonds have a
relatively low fat content compared to other types of nut. The
composition of this fat is also interesting, because only a small
fraction is saturated and the majority consists of nutritionally very
valuable mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Beyond this,
almonds are rich in fiber, vitamin B2, phosphorus, magnesium,
and the trace elements copper and manganese. They also
contain relevant quantities of folic acid, potassium, calcium, iron,
and zinc. Due to their high levels of vitamin E, flavonoids, and
phenolic acids, natural almonds also have excellent antioxidative
potential. Almonds have a characteristic, slightly sweet flavor
and a crunchy-nutty texture. Natural almonds have a stronger
flavor than blanched almonds. Contined sells almonds from Blue
Diamond in California. Their innovative portfolio of roasted snack
almonds is unique in the market and is available in the following
variants:
Whole
Slivered
Flavored
Pecan
Pecans are extremely popular because of their nutty-sweet
taste. The nut is also extremely nutritious, with a very high
proportion of valuable unsaturated fatty acids (over 85%). It is
also full of minerals such as iron, potassium, copper, manganese,
and zinc, as well as vitamin B1, pantothenic acid, folic acid, and
biotin. Its abundance of fiber and antioxidants is a major plus
for marketing it as a true premium ingredient. The pecan tree is
native to the sunny southern states of the United States, which to
this day are the world’s largest producers. Our partner, the
National Pecan Company, has its headquarters in the state of
Texas. As the U.S. market leader for pecan nuts, it has three
major production sites in the main cultivation areas: Arizona,
Texas, and New Mexico. We do have pecan is the following
variants:
Mammoth halves

NUT INGREDIENTS
Walnut
Archaeological findings indicate that the walnut is one of the
oldest foods in the world. Originally from ancient Persia, it
entered the Mediterranean region in ancient times via the
Greeks. In the 18th century, walnuts found their way to the New
World with Spanish missionaries. Today, the USA is the world’s
largest exporter of this subtly acerbic nut. Of all nuts, walnuts
have the highest concentration of linolenic acid (approximately
7,500 mg/100 g) – one of the essential omega-3 fatty acids that
contribute to maintaining a healthy cholesterol level. Their
delicate nutmeats are also rich in antioxidant tocopherols and
the trace elements zinc and potassium. Walnuts are very
versatile and adaptable. Whether in cakes or ice cream, as
sweet, crunchy brittle, in savory dips and pasta dishes, or as a
nutty salad topping with a fine texture – the walnut gives many
dishes that certain extra something.

FUNCTIONAL INGREDIENTS
Apple brown
Apple brown, called Herbarom, is a coloring, natural apple
extract. Herbarom is produced from freshly harvested apples
that are carefully dried after pressing the juice (and the oils). This
is the product of choice for natural brown coloring without the
addition of E-numbers and allergens. The brown coloring is
caused by the high concentration of polyphenols, compounds
that naturally occur in plants. Consumers are increasingly
demanding ingredients that are as natural as possible, which
gives Herbarom significant marketing benefits because of the
label-friendly declaration. Herbarom is extremely suitable in,
for example, drinks, bakery products, sauces and meat
(substitutes) because of the simple way of using them. Herbarom
is produced by our German partner Herbafood, which specializes
in functional fruit ingredients that are extracted from apples
and citrus fruit. Herbarom is available in the following variants:
Liquid
Powder
Apple sugar
Apple sugar, called Herbasweet, is a sweet, natural apple
extract with a neutral color. Herbasweet is produced from
freshly harvested apples that are carefully dried after pressing
the juice (and the oils). Herbasweet contains the naturally present
fruit sugars of apple which gives natural taste to products and
also improves freshness. Herbasweet has a balanced flavor
profile and is very label-friendly. Herbasweet is produced by our
German partner Herbafood, which specializes in functional
fruit ingredients that are extracted from apples and citrus fruit.
Herbasweet is available in the following variants:

Nutritional
fibers
Contined offers various (fruit) fibers, from fine powder to coarse
grains from Herbafood. Herbafood is a German company that
specializes in functional fruit ingredients that are extracted
from apples and citrus fruits. Classic Fibers are characterized by
the typical taste, smell and color of the raw material. Classic Plus
Fibers are made from plant-based ingredients that are
particularly rich in dietary fiber. With Herbacel AQ Plus, a highly
functional fiber, non-fibrous compounds are carefully removed
during various washing steps. This retains the natural cell wall
structure and results in a fiber with neutral sensory properties
with a very high water binding capacity. This functional fiber
can be used to replace thickeners, emulsifiers and stabilizers and
therefore fits perfectly in the clean label trends. We have the
following fibers in our portfolio:
