Imagine That!By THE BuNdABERG POTTERy GROuP & THE fIREHOuSE POTTERS
11 JULY – 2 septemberBundaberg Regional Ar t Gal lery
Traditional pottery shapes and techniques have been translated into sculptural form with the freedom of sculpture providing the opportunity to explore the full range of ceramic possibilities, including colourful, textural surface and firing temperatures and techniques.
The inclusive group policy of encouraging the contribution of all members has been continued in the form of a flowing lighted heart. This work is loosely based on the utopian dream and poignant lyrics expressed in John Lennon’s hit song from the seventies called “Imagine”. It was left to each artist to interpret the song in their own way with no restriction on materials, methods or colours.Image: Narelle Lewis, Growth, 2012, clay and mixed media.

Second LifeBy MARy BARRON
11 JULY – 2 septemberBundaberg Regional Ar t Gal lery
When making art from recycled materials the work retains a memory of the materials original function. The artworks in ‘Second Life’ are made predominately from old clothes and those of Barron’s family and friends. In their first life they were clothes, utilitarian and practical and their purpose in this first life helps to inform their second life as art.

The Games We PlayBy dAI LI
11 JULY – 2 septemberBundaberg Regional Ar t Gal lery
“The Games We Play” seeks to set up metaphorical connections between the games we play and deeper emotional experiences in life. These moments can occur at times of activity, feelings of excitement, fear or nervousness, the thrill of escape, the joy of success or the discovery of failure. Likewise, moments of contemplation or unguarded moments when no one is watching — or we are hiding — are moments when people can reveal their true nature.Image: dai Li, Preparation, 2012.
