Preamble
Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) holds a unique position as the largest diamond bourse in the
world, with a membership of over 4,000 diamond merchants, engaged in import and export,
manufacturing and marketing of rough and polished diamonds.
The BDB Team continually strives to provide an environment that enables its members to
conduct their business with maximum convenience, comfort and security. This edition of
Bourse Update aims to provide a snapshot of the various initiatives taken by BDB in the last one
year upto April 2015.

OUR ENDEAVOUR
Dear Members,
Bharat Diamond Bourse will be introducing new facilities for the benefit of the members
and the Indian diamond industry at large. At the same time we are upgrading our
infrastructure to provide excellent services to you, your employees and the business
visitors.
This edition of the Bourse Update will give an overview of the milestones achieved and
the initiatives taken by our BDB team.
This journey towards being a world class entity would not have been possible without
the continual support of all our esteemed members, right since inception. We take this
opportunity to express our profound gratitude to all of you.

Single window grievance redressal system at Member
Relations has been effectively implemented.
BDB Application Tracker helps members to track status of
legal & Fit-out related status. Weekly meeting with
MMRDA Consultant is organized at MR for updates and
further guidance.
Triton software for Customer complaint management has
been made fully functional resulting in systematic
management of customer complaints.
Members now have the flexibility to view and download
bills from the BDB website and mobile app at their

Document Management System introduced to manage
around 30 lakh documents.

Various projects in BDB are designed and executed in-house, thereby reducing time lines and overall cost.
First Aid: Immediate assistance is given to any person suffering sudden illness or injury before medical aid arrives

Efficient Elevators
Refurbishment of elevators was carried out
and the logics for 32 tower elevators were
changed for faster transportation. Water Coolers
16 new Water Coolers installed for
members at various locations.
Insulation
Insulation of chilled water lines
completed in 50 lobbies, to avoid
condensation leading to energy
conservation.
Terrace Waterproofing
Measures are taken to prevent leakages
from terrace during monsoon
Internal Road Levelling
Ensures proper flow of rainwater to
the drain lines instead of clogging
Brighter Lift Lobbies
LED lighting in the lift lobby and
washrooms gives better luminosity.
LED Lighting
LED Flood lights provided on the
periphery roads and gates have
increased surveillance during night
hours.
Clean BDB Complex
Housekeeping team ensures cleanliness of
pathways, building facade, washrooms,
passages and staircases on a daily basis.
Training
Regular training of teams ensures
they are well-informed and are
motivated to work efficiently

Wet & Dry Garbage
Segregation of wet and dry garbage has been
introduced as an initiative towards saving our
environment.
Total Complaints
Efficient housekeeping has led to a reduction in the number of such
complaints and an overall increased satisfaction index.
Beautiful Green Surroundings
Housekeeping personnel maintains the green spaces across the bourse

Food Outlets
20 new food outlets have been made operational in last one year for members within BDB
BDB Tiffin Center
Slow moving inventory was used efficiently towards
developing the BDB Tiffin Center.
BDB Convenience Store
The newly opened store provides wide range of office
supplies and equipment.

High speed Wi-Fi service is being provided as a facility across
the bourse for better network connectivity.
Biometric Attendance
Biometric attendance system introduced for better
management of BDB outsourced staff.
BDB Cleanliness Drive
Swacch Bharat Abhiyan was initiated at BDB in Feb 2015 in support of the Clean
BKC Campaign of MMRDA. Members wholeheartedly volunteered in the drive
across towers.
CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY
Food Audits
Monthly food Audits are conducted for
ensuring proper hygiene of all food
vendors at BDB.
Emergency Evacuation Drill
Regular Tower wise Evacuation drills and firefighting training are conducted for
the benefit of Members and their staff
Team Motivation
In order to ensure BDB team stays
skilled, competent and motivated,
knowledge sharing sessions, team
building activities and other training
sessions were held through the year

Good Health
Anti-Tobacco Campaign was organized for creating awareness amongst our
members.
Blood Donation Camp
Blood Donation Camp was held in November 2014 in collaboration with Cooper
Hospital. 228 units of Blood packets were collected in a day with positive
response of volunteers including Allottees, Employees, BDB Staff and BDB
Outsourced staff.
Safety Week
The National Safety Week is observed in
India on 4th March to highlight the
importance of Safety in all spheres of life.
Volleyball Tournament 2015
Volleyball Tournament 2015 witnessed enthusiastic participation of 440 players. 44 Teams played 55 matches and Blossom Bulls
were announced the Winner & Champion of season-1. Mr. Virendra Makwana was declared Best player of the Tournament.

The 66th Republic Day celebrations on 26th January 2015 observed flag-hoisting ceremony, parade and cultural events.
International Women’s Day Celebration
IWD represents the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.

SA Visa Assistance
BDB along with GJEPC, MDMA and
Members of the Bourse held a
meeting with the Consulate General
of the Republic of South Africa,
Mumbai on 27 May 2014 to provide
assistance in getting SA business
visas for BDB Members.

Seminar on Banking & Forex
BDB and DEAL in association with

a presentation to members on
Banking and Forex on 11th April
2015 at the Trading Hall to discuss
issues relating to Banking, Forex,
Trade Finance, Hedging and other
trade related matters.

RJC Visit to BDB
RJC AGM, Conference & Factory Visits to Surat and Mumbai SEEPZ
The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) held its AGM and Conference at BDB on 13 April
2015, giving attendees the opportunity to visit key diamond and jewellery
manufacturing centres in Surat and SEEPZ in Mumbai. This was the first RJC AGM held
outside Europe and marks a milestone in the organisation's continuing efforts to bring
the message of responsible business practices to India - a global leader in diamond and
jewellery manufacturing and sales.
The events highlighted how the Indian manufacturing sector has significantly benefited
from an industry-led global compliance standard like the RJC to meet export market
expectations as well as to retain skilled workers as a way of improving quality and
productivity. The AGM and conference was co-hosted by BDB and GJEPC in association
with Venus Jewel, Shree Ramakrishna Exports, Mohit Diamonds and Jasani Group –
Elegant Collection.
