Dear Bethel Family,
As we reflect on the past ten years since our installation as your Bishop, we are overwhelmed and humbled by our mandate to serve God’s people and to shepherd you in the awesome work that Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has given us.
The years have brought challenges as well as opportunities for us to work together to expand the influence of the Kingdom in the nations. And by His grace and your strong support, we have not faltered. Indeed, we have made significant progress. Truly, God alone gets all the glory!
It remains our continued privilege and joy to serve you and we solicit your prayers as we move for-ward to establish Bethel World Outreach Ministries throughout the world as a beacon of light and hope to a lost and dying world. As we press on to know and serve Him more, my prayer for us is that we never give up, never give in and that we be found faithful until the end.
Only by our continued trust and faith in Him shall we persevere. Only by His great love for us shall we overcome every obstacle. As we move forward into the next decade of God’s favor and grace, we expect great things. God has determined to bless us and much is in store for our families, our careers, and the great ministry He has given us to steward.
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your Bishop. I am both humbled and honored. Together we will hold fast to the promises of God as we move forward in the love and unity of our Lord Jesus Christ.
With love and appreciation,

Ten years ago this month, you took a step of faith in accepting the call to the office of a bishop. In your reflections on the day of our consecration, you spoke these words:
“I expect this journey of faith and obedience to impact the destinies of men and nations. It will lead to the village and to the metropolis; to the ghetto and to the suburbs; to the disenfranchised and to kings. But no matter where we find our-selves, we are His representatives and are committed to seeing to it that things are done His way.”
What a remarkable journey. In your obedience to the Lord, I have witnessed the des-tinies of men and nations impacted. By His grace, you have represented Him well by a Christ-like life and ministry. On this special occasion of celebrating a Jesus-filled life and God’s faithfulness, I want to say how proud I am of you for how you have availed yourself to the Lord and to His service
Thank God for 10 Years of Bishopric. I believe we have just begun to experience all that the Lord has in store. The best is yet to come. I am excited about sharing this wonderful journey with you.
I love you with all my heart.
Your Sweetheart,
Chrys

Welcoming and Congratulatory Message
For and on behalf of me, my family and the Bethel World Outreach Ministries Cathedral of Hope family, we wish to welcome you Rev. Dr. Darlingston G. Johnson, Bishop and Presiding Prelate of the Bethel World Outreach Ministries International, the Lady Chrys Johnson and the entire Bethel USA family, the Bishop David Michael Copeland and the entire Kingdom Council Family, the Bethel World Outreach Ministries International family, bishops, general overseers and visionaries of other ministries, well wishers and friends.
As we celebrate your 10th Bishopric Anniversary as Bishop and Presiding Prelate of the Beth-el World Outreach Ministries International, we want to congratulate you for the distinct level of achievements that you have made thus far by the grace of god.
Our joyful celebration of your Tenth Bishopric Anniversary is a clear indication that we recognize that you are a distinct gift from God that has lived and continue to live your purpose by endeavoring to become to all men all that God has ordained you to be.
You are our father, mentor, role model and the living epistle that has exemplified the life of Christ to the fullest. Most of us are what we are today because of the length and depth you went in order to communicate the love of Christ to us in practical ways. You brought us hope, dignity, confidence, significance, self esteem and made us to believe in the fact that god could use us just as much as he has used others who he has saved, transformed, called and turned into instruments of righteousness for his name sake.
As we celebrate your 10th Bishopric Anniversary, we celebrate our victory, success, achievements, upliftments, accomplishments, and progress because we are convinced that our inheritance is con-nected to yours.
It is our prayers that the Lord will usher you into another level and keep you preserved and sus-tained even as you continue to lead us into the fullness of God’s will for our lives.
Bravo and Congratulations!Thanks,
Rev, and Pastor (Mrs.) M. Wolo Belleh Sr. Pastors, Bethel Cathedral of Hope

To: Bishop Darlingston Johnson & Lady Chrys Johnson Bethel World Outreach Church Silver Spring, MD
Dear Bishop & Lady Chrys Johnson:
It is with a deep sense of gratitude to the Lord God that we wish to salute you on the occa-sion of the celebration of Jesus in your twenty-six (26) years of able ministry.
Traveling toward your missionary station, two or three years ago, the Master made it plain to us that your ministry was “Apostolic” in nature. While experiencing very great joy upon remembering that revelation, we are aware that the Lord Himself takes time to express His pleasure concerning your mission fulfillment and to honor you in days when so many have been failing Him.
We hasten to give thanks to Him for His great grace upon your life and pray His high call-ing in you will continue to escalate even to places untouched and to heights still unknown in your ministerial history.
Your heart desire concerning your life and call be granted on to you. Know that your reward is with Him Who does not forget and Who is so faithful.
His love, His gladness be with you and His success and increase be yours. Amen.

Congratulations on Your 10th Bishopric Anniversary!
Bishop Darlingston G. and Lady Chrys Johnson
Bishop, it is a privilege to serve God under your leadership. Your vision, integrity and humility have been exemplary to each one of us. What a joy to be part of the team God is raising up with you.
Your multicultural vision for the church is God-inspired. He has accelerated the process of fulfill-ment in Bethel North. The joining of the Hispanic church into our Body of Believers has increased the diversity in our congregation and it is beautiful to behold. We know that other cultures and lan-guages are forthcoming. The launching of our own place of worship is encouraging and we know it is only the beginning of greater things.
This team is excited to serve with you. It is an honor that we cherish. In the words of our launch testimony – it is hope revealed!

According to the online dictionary, a verdict is the finding or answer of a jury given to
the court concerning a matter submitted to their judgment. Dr. Luke in the book of Acts begins his investigation into the authenticity of the char-acter and nature of the gospel of Christ through his observation and interaction with a disciple of Christ known as Paul the apostle. This inqui-sition is important because any tinge of incon-sistency that would have been observed by Dr. Luke with regard to Paul’s character, preaching and teaching would have been a direct contra-diction “of all that Jesus began both to do and teach….” (Acts 1:1). At the conclusion of his finding, Dr. Luke rendered his verdict by saying that Jesus is indeed alive through his disciples “by many infallible proofs….” (Acts 1:3).The purpose of this testimonial is to present an inside verdict into the tract record of Bishop Darlingston G. Johnson, the man who has been championing the vision of the grassroots minis-try known as Bethel World Outreach Ministries International (BWOMI) for little over two de-cades, from 1987 to present. I have known Dr. Johnson since that time. Paul wrote to Timothy,
his son in faith “But you have fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuf-fering, charity, patience, persecution” (2 Timo-thy 3:10-11). Just as Dr. Luke closely followed and observed the Apostle Paul, I have also done the same. I have been fortunate to partake of Dr. Johnson’s ministry. I have interacted vas-a-vas with him, and I have seen his ministry burgeon under the aegis of the Holy Spirit working in and through him. I have slept in his home and have eaten at the same table with him. He has personally honored and served me in many re-spects. The world is seeking a leader, and as we do so it is extremely imperative for us to know who we are following. As the apostle Paul confi-dently said “follow me as I follow Christ.” (ICor 11:1). Therefore, the pertinent question to you is, who are you following? Do you really know your leader? In order to fully appreciate Dr. Johnson, allow me to present a brief historical overview into the context of the problem which shall usher us into his track record, for it would be a travesty of justice not to do so. Be reminded

that Dr. Luke recorded facts of history of how the Holy Spirit used Paul. In the same manner the following track record is based on facts of history of how the Holy Spirit is working in and through Dr. Darlingston Johnson. Generally when the name Dr. Dar-lington Johnson is mentioned what pops up in most peoples mind is Bethel and that’s because people cannot separate Bethel from Dr. John-son. They’re intricately linked together. We know that Dr. Darlingston Johnson is Bishop, the Senior Pastor, General Overseer and Presid-ing Prelate of BWOMI. We know also that he is a scholar and that he earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Divinity degrees sum-ma cum laude from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa Oklahoma, in 1981 and 1984, respec-tively. We know that he matriculated at Phil-lips University in Enid, Oklahoma, where he completed his doctoral studies in 1986. These degrees recognize academic performance. But in 2009 Bishop Darlingston Johnson received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree from St. Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida. The awarding of an honorary doctorate is different from academic recognition because it recognizes life achievement. It is the differ-ence between the classroom of academia vs. the classroom of life. But this brief catalogue or re-sume is not sufficient to capture Dr. Johnson and to appreciate his many sacrifices he continues to render. Therefore, it behooves me to recount a brief historical overview leading into his track record.
A Brief Historical Overview In Liberia, there was very deep spiritual famine in the land. The hearts and tongues of men and women were parched and dry. People were running to and fro from one revival meeting to another seeking fulfillment to their insatiable hunger and thirst. Hunger, that could not be sat-isfied by natural bread and thirst that could not be quenched by natural water. This deep hun-ger and spiritual deprivation drove some women of God in prophetic prayer groups to intercede and pray for Liberia. These women were united in one accord not to establish a church but to
specifically intercede fervently for the Lord to raise up a God fearing man and for God to send revival to the country of Liberia. There were many revival meetings and crusades held in Liberia like Campus Crusade for Christ, now the Great Commission Movement. Its founder and director, Bill Bright launched his eight million dollar satellites in space to evangelize the world. This was followed by the famous Africa Enterprise, an evangelistic team from South Africa headed by Michael Cassidy along with Youth With A Mission from Holland for evangelistic crusades. There were weeks of discipleship training and teaching at the Lutheran Church in Monrovia and evange-lists were assigned in key areas of the city to host crusades. During the week of discipleship and counselor training, many pastors and min-isters rededicated their lives while some even accepted Christ as Lord and Savior. This was indeed a turning point in the life of traditional Christianity or churches in Liberia. This also was evident that the propinquity of revival was imminent. At the closing of the crusade on the campus of the University of Liberia campus, a student asked the late Fsesto Kivengere, Bishop of the Anglican Church of Uganda and author of the famous book I Love Idi Amin, “What’s next?” Festo sensing that the young university student’s question was motivated and driven out of the need of deep spiritual hunger still linger-ing and longing in the hearts of people, Fsesto looking at the evening gray clouds as they re-ceded and transfixing his attention on the stu-dent responded “The revival hasn’t ended yet, it’s just beginning. We are going but God will visit you.” Let me interject by surmising that by now you may be wondering, “What’s the con-nection to Dr. Johnson?” Well, I believe first of all that the foregoing account does have a strong connection because it reveals that God was pre-paring the stage for his arrival; therefore God was working surreptitiously behind the scene. Secondly, these revivals and crusades served as a harbinger for what the Holy Spirit was about to do in Liberia through Dr. Darlington G. John-son. Indeed, God did visit Liberia. In 1986 at
54
the Barnes Foundation School in Lakpazee, the Bethel Full Gospel Church was started by Pastor Nat Friday with 17 people in attendance including the women who were praying for the Lord’s visitation upon the country of Liberia. A year later, Dr. Johnson came and took over the fledgling Church. It became obvious to all, es-pecially the interceding women that Dr. Johnson was an answer to prayer and God sent. This was symptomatic by his skillfulness in handling the word, preaching and teaching and the irresist-ible anointing upon his life. In 1987, Dr. Johnson delivered the country’s Independence Day discourse at the Centennial Pavilion in Monrovia, and in his ad-dress to the state, he noted that the churches in Liberia had “failed the country”. Dr. Johnson’s message ignited fire storms of criticism from both politicians and a cross section of the main line religious establishments in Monrovia. The religious establishments particularly failed to acknowledge the centuries of malady of corrup-tions in the churches which led to spiritual and moral decay and deprivation, which thus led to the 1980 coup. The history of religion in Libe-ria reveals that politics and the church are intri-cately intertwined and walked hand in hand; for the church was the axis upon which the country rotated. The politicians and religious leaders failed to acknowledge such fact. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. rightly noted;
“One of the greatest liabilities of life is that all too many people find themselves living amid a great period of social change and yet they failed to develop new attitudes; and we end up sleeping through the revolution.”
Dr. Johnson was calling upon the sleeping churches to awake from their slumber to their God given responsibilities; but instead they were content to sleep through the change God desired to bring to the churches of Liberia. The religious leaders failed to discern the time of God’s visitation. In less than a year, the then Bethel Full Gospel church outgrew the Barnes Foundation
School, from 17 members to over two hundred members. This grassroots church was nomadic, moving from one location to another. The rapid growth of the fledgling church constrained the church to move from Barnes Foundation School to the Monrovia City Hall. The church under Dr. Johnson’s pastoralship finally found rest by purchasing a parcel of land on Tubman Boule-vard, opposite the YWCA. Under Dr. Johnson’s leadership, the Bethel Cathedral and a school, Faith Foundation was constructed. The church’s vision or name went under series of transitions, from local to a national and from national to in-ternational. The church went from being a “Full Gospel” to “Bethel Outreach Center”. Meaning, it would be a mission oriented and disciple-ship training center, a beachhead from which it would train and commission missionaries. The church has not departed from this vision. Later the church’s vision expanded from “Outreach Center” to the “Bethel World Outreach Minis-tries”. Under Dr. Johnson’s pastoral leader-ship, the Covenant family, a cell group was in-stituted. Dr. Johnson trained and appointed both cell group leaders and area pastors and released them in their respective communities. The Cov-enant family was a strong discipleship arm of the church. Every Sunday evening, members would meet in homes and their community for evangelistic and discipleship meetings. In these cell groups, people were given the opportunity to exercise their God given leadership abilities and gifts. Dr. Johnson motivated and recognized covenant families for their dedicated services, growth and leadership abilities. Covenant fami-lies that outgrew their membership, recom-mended leaders for training and started addi-tional group(s) were promoted to area pastors and group coordinators. Today, many who were covenant family members, leaders and area pas-tors are in some leadership positions in their respective churches and ministries. Many have embraced the call to go on the mission field in foreign countries, while others are church plant-ers, pastors and evangelists. In 1990, Dr. Johnson and his wife Chrys left Liberia for a ministry conference in
55
the United States; and when it became obvious that they could not return to Liberia due to the civil conflict in Liberia, instead of them being refugees, Dr. Johnson and his wife became mis-sionaries. Under the aegis or direction of Holy Spirit, the Bethel World Outreach Ministries In-ternational was birthed. Through this initiative, today Bethel World Outreach Ministries Inter-national can be found in many countries around the world with approximately thirty thousand members and affiliates. The Bethel World Out-reach Church is strategically located in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, Maryland compris-ing over 3,000 members from more than 45 na-tions. Bethel Silver Spring is the headquarters of the international ministries (BWOMI). In view of the foregoing, there are cer-tain salient qualities that served as a verdict to this man called of God credit that I would like for you to acknowledge and appreciate. Do you remember that old adage that says “If you think education is expensive, then try igno-rance.” Well let me remind you that knowledge is powerful and ignorance is costly. The eighth century prophet Hosea of ancient Israel warned “my people perish for lack of knowledge.” (Hos 4:6) Knowledge of a thing is very crucial be-cause, it can cause a person to value or deval-ued that thing based upon its worth. I submit to you when you get to know Dr. Johnson you will appreciate him as a man sent from God for our generation and you will do well to listen to him with fear and trembling. But let me caution you that much familiarity breeds or contempt. The gospel reminds us that Jesus did not have impact in Nazareth, his own home because his people were too familiar with him. I want to believe that it was familiarity that causes Judas to devalue the person of Jesus that led to his be-trayal of Jesus. As we interact with this man of God there must be a check and balance in our spirit to avoid the temptation of Judas, one of Jesus’ closest companions who was deluded in underestimating Jesus and thus led to his subse-quent betrayal of Christ. In light of this caveat, there are several outstanding qualities that I have personally observed in Dr. Johnson for over two decades that I wish to present to you. Perhaps
you have observed them too. These qualities are: visionary, consistency of character, church planter and supporter, encourager, teacher and scholar, humble servant of Christ and caring.
Visionary It is worthy to note that since Bishop Johnson assumed leadership over the then Beth-el Full Gospel Church in 1987 in Lakpazee, Monrovia, Liberia which was housed in Barnes Foundation school, the Church has grown from one local church to an internationally recog-nized ministry. The irrefutable truth of the mat-ter is Bethel World Outreach Ministries Interna-tional would not be where it is today had it not been for the Spirit led charismatic and apostolic leadership of Bishop Johnson. Dr. Johnson is a globalist, like Jesus he has a world vision. His vision has caused us to become globally minded. It was when Bethel in Liberia was dispersed and nadir as sheep having no shepherd; when peo-ple’s hope was crushed and mired and in need of healing and restoration due to the civil crisis which ravaged the country, it was Dr. Johnson who gave Bethel World Outreach Ministries in Liberia a reason to hope and trust in God. For in 1991 during the truce of the civil crisis in Liberia, Bishop Johnson expeditiously took ad-vantage of the occasion by visiting the flocks in Liberia and put leadership in place. During that historic visit several ministers of Bethel were ordained and licensed. These ministers were charged with the mandate to go and preach the whole gospel. The churches were encouraged and strengthened and did not feel abandoned. Dr. Johnson’s visit was not only limited to the city of Monrovia, but he risked his life by visit-ing churches behind the then rebel line in the counties. He visited the church in Salalla, Bong County, and Smell-No-Taste in Margibi where he ministered and encouraged the believers and built their most holy faith. Still under Dr. Johnson’s apostolic leadership, many embraced the global vision (licensed, ordained and even unrecognized in-dividuals) ran with the impregnable vision of “winning the lost at all cost” in and beyond their borders spreading the revival flame (some of whom have gone home to be with the Lord).
56
Once armed with the impregnable and indomi-table word, Satan and his demons were no match for them. As these men and women went, they were heard singing the battle song: “God got an army, marching through the land with deliverance in their song and healing in their hands, everlasting joy and gladness in their hearts and in this army I have a part”. Still others could be heard singing “I will arise and Go forth in the name of the Lord of Host, I will arise and Go forth in the name, in the name I will declare He is the Lord, and in Him I am not afraid for He has conquered every foe by His word.” Yes this mighty army can still be seen in mine eyes brandishing their swords (Bible) in the air and marching on to victory not count-ing their lives to themselves. This mighty army recruited by Dr. Johnson under the aegis of the Holy Spirit has one goal, to know Jesus and make Him known and vanquish the foe. Their power-ful gospel and tenacity was formidable against the kingdom of darkness. Everywhere they went they left their indelible marks for souls got saved, disciples made and churches sprang up. Still under the apostolic leadership of Bishop Johnson, the flame has not been quenched; it is even spreading wider and wider as it continues to spread and the battle cry is still being sung.Consistency of character: The wise sage of an-cient Israel said, “Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, but who can find a faithful man?” (Proverbs 20:6). This verse suggest that faithful men and women are in great demand and in short supply. According to 2 Chronicles 16:9; God is still seeking the earth for faithful men and women. “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to him.” This testimonial is presented to inform the world that God’s search has not been in vain; for in his quest, he has found Bishop Darlings-ton G. Johnson’s heart loyal and faithful toward him; and if you are seeking the physical foot print of Jesus, I invite you to follow Dr. Johnson as he follows Christ. Dr. Johnson is a paragon of moral virtue and character. His character is not
controversial, nor is it like the four temperate season; winter, spring, summer and autumn (or fall). He is not like the winter, when the wind begins to blow he get cold like ice; neither is he like spring, he becomes alive when everything is springing up; nor is he like summer in which he gets hot when the sun is hot; and lastly he is not like fall, he falls when everything around him is falling. No! Bishop Johnson is consistent in character and his life is worth modeling. As one of Bishop’s pastors rightly observed, Bish-op Johnson “has never changed, he is still the same.” Unlike many ministers who create and make use of certain privileges when their min-istry or ministries begin to excel by surrounding themselves with security guards, armor guards, and become remote or distance from their pa-rishioners and disappear from the platform as soon they are through ministering to the people, Bishop Johnson has never made use of any of these rights and privileges. He is very approach-able and accessible to all, the great and small, the high and low, the rich and poor are of equal value to him. While he is growing in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, Bishop John-son is consistent in character. He treats everyone with the outmost respect.
Church Planter and Supporter The Lord has not only used Bishop Johnson to trailblaze the ministry under the di-rection of the Holy Spirit, but he has kept the unity of the faith and has been very instrumental and supportive in many ways that space would not permit documentation. But it is worth noting that Bishop Johnson has been in the full front of church planting and supporting those churches financially, morally, emotionally, psychologi-cally, socially, spiritually and educationally. He has given himself sacrificially and continues to give himself beyond measure. He has poured out his life and continues to pour out has life as a drink offering. He is physically involved with every church, be it small or large, and no church is too far for him to visit and minister. Financial-ly, Bishop Johnson has spent over $2.5 million in support of church planting, its development
57
and ministry support and he has not relented to continue to do so. He is also actively involved in networking on behalf of the churches and seeking aggressively the passionate welfare of his ministers. Through his Apostolic leadership Bethel has attained international status and rec-ognition.
Encourager During the most darkest and difficult days of the church’s life during the civil crisis in Liberia, it was Bishop Johnson who went in and out before us, and gathered the sheep into one fold. Bishop Johnson did not just minister the word, but he went the extra mile by extending invitation to his ministers to visit him where he is, in the United States. This reminds me of Je-sus in John 14:6, “that where I am, there ye will be also.” Isn’t that noble? Bishop invited his ministers for rest and refreshing and reflection at the lowest point of their lives and ministry. Dr. Johnson also demonstrates his encouragement for his ministers and other ministers by opening his pulpit to them, giving them ministry oppor-tunities. He encourages his ministers to value their gifts and not to be intimidated by anyone because there is enough success in the world for everyone. I must testify today that had it not been for the wisdom and Spirit led leadership and ministry of Bishop Johnson many of us and perhaps even the churches would not be where they are today. “To God be the glory.”
Teacher and Scholar It was said of Jesus that he taught as one having authority and not like the Scribes and Pharisees. The same can be attributed to Dr. Johnson. Dr. Johnson’s writings and preach-ing are very different from many scholars and teachers. Bishop Johnson knows how to open the word as Jesus did on Emmaus Road. Lis-ten to his messages and read his writings. They have deep prophetic significance; they are weighty and powerful, deeply anointed and rel-evant. These messages and writings are from the very throne room, the inner court of God and they transcend time. They are very thought pro-voking, devotional in content, full of divine in-struction and revelation and transforming. Their
themes ebb and flow and drive one to action. His writings and messages deal with real life issues. As one young adult from Silver Spring, Maryland noted when being interviewed, “He preaches as though he knows what he is say-ing.” This is true, Bishop Johnson preaches with passion and compassion, love and urgency and with a view of imparting and changing lives for Christ. I encourage you to take advantage of his messages and writings. Let me use this occasion to recommend just a few: Take advantage of the series (1). The Storm: this series will blow your mind and it will save you a lot of headaches and transform your life. (2) The Power of Thought: do you understand your actions and behavior? For more and deeper revelation I strongly en-courage you to get hold of this series. I have heard many pastors and ministers preach on this subject, but nothing comes close to this one. Another series you need is (3) The 23rd Psalm. This series will help you live a worry stress free life and help you understand the character and nature of your Shepherd. Do you know your en-emy? If so how well do you know him? Are you sustaining victory or defeat? Are you up one day and down the next minute, then you need (4) The Invisible War series. (5). Then there is another series called “Anointed for the Market Place.” This series has been transcribed in a book. And last but not the least, you need the series (6). The Power of the Blood. Bishop Johnson has also written “Light for Your Journey” a how-to guide for healthy spiritual growth etc.; “Good-bye Worry:” This book helps one live a joyful life in Christ. “This One Thing I Do”: this book will provoke you to examine what you are living for. There are many things people are living for, but only one that matter. These CD, Tapes and books can be obtained for little or nothing. And I guarantee that you will get more than what you pay for. If you are serious about changing your life, then I strongly encourage you to take advantage of these materials. Believe me, they are highly anointed. Through Bishop Johnson, the mystery of the gospel has become a reality for we have heard and continue to hear messages in a man-ner we are not accustomed. And in the words of
58
Jesus “For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see, but did not see it, and long to hear what you hear but did not hear it (Mat. 13: 17, Life Applica-tion). How blessed we are in this age and time to have such an anointed and faithful servant of God. As a teacher and scholar, Bishop John-son makes no claim to extra-biblical or extrin-sic revelation. And true to the word, he always cautions his hearers to search the Scriptures for themselves like the Berean Christian in Berea did upon hearing Paul preach. The Scripture says “These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so” ( Acts 17:11). Bishop would thank God for “prophets”, for the word of knowledge and word of wisdom, but for him the sure word of prophecy is the engrafted WORD OF GOD. His heart is truly in the teaching ministry. He does not want God’s people to be gullible but peo-ple of the Book. He does not minister to show his scholastic aptitude. He does not minister to point people to himself but to Christ. He does not minister to advance his philosophy or ideol-ogy. His goal is that Christ will be glorified and magnified.
Humble Servant of Christ Often most people associate humility with weakness, ignorance and naivety. But for Dr. Johnson, humility is power under control. For him authority and power are exercised on the back of humility. Therefore, one word that could best describe Bishop Johnson is humble servant of Jesus Christ. As a servant, he knows and understands himself and the nature of au-thority and power. I can vividly remember one day I went into Dr. Johnson Silver Spring of-fice to fulfill an appointment. Bishop Johnson got up from behind his desk, a place of author-ity and control and sat facing me; thereby mak-ing me co-equal with him and identifying with me. I felt very humble but also very surprised at the wisdom and character of this servant of God. This action has painted an indelible picture
that has never left my mind. Bishop Johnson has never asked the Lord to make him great; rather his prayer is that God will do great things in and through him. His goal is to know Christ and make him known and to bring people to the knowledge of the truth. Bishop Johnson has no personal stake, no avarice-passion for wealth or self advancement; his trophy is the salvation of souls, the perfecting of the saints and the glory of God.
Compassion Bishop Johnson cares deeply for people. He loves to see people excel in every aspect of their God given abilities. He provides opportu-nities and room for growth. Bishop Johnson is easily moved with compassion toward the plight of people and his ministers. I have seen him lit-erally mourn and weep with those who wept and mourned.
In every generation God raises up, or-dains and sets apart a prophet for his glory and honor. When God was looking for a man to save Egypt and its neighbors from global famine, God raised up Joseph. When he needed some-one to get his people out of Egypt, he raised up Moses. He raised up Samuel to enthrone and de-throne kings. Lastly, he sent Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Simi-larly, that God in his divine wisdom has raised up Bishop Darlingston G. Johnson and has anointed, ordained and set him apart as an apos-tle, teacher, pastor and prophet to the nations in such a time as this in our generation which cannot be denied and ignored. God has given Bishop Johnson as a gift and witness not only to Bethel but to the people and nations of the world. We are extremely blessed beyond mea-sure in our generation to have Bishop Johnson as our shepherd. And we will do well if we listen to what he has to say. We are living in exciting times and under a prophetic apostolic anointing. I count it a feather in my cap to be one of your disciples and ministers. Congratulation Bishop Johnson and Happy Anniversary.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us all.

Dear Bishop and Pastor ChrysI am so happy to be able to offer my personal congratulations and thank you in this public way. You have changed my life by teaching me God’s Word and how to apply it. I came here about 15 years ago a broken black woman. I looked fine on the outside but I was a wreck inside. You took notice of me and invited me to serve, everywhere from the formation of MCDC to 5-Star you had a place for me. And along the journey took good pastoral care. You were there when my brother died, when I was hospitalized, when you didn’t see me in church you actually called my principal and asked if she would pull me out of class so I could take your call. Wow. You even drove all the way to my house in southeast DC to visit with me. Your fine Lexus and Pastor Chrys cute as could be in jeans. That was the first pastoral visit I’d ever had in my life and in my family. You were the pastor that led my nephew to salvation and have taught me by example what it means to be loved by a father.
And what it means to be nursed by a mother. Pastor Chrys were it not for you I wouldn’t have had the courage to even talk to Bishop. When I was in the Each One Teach One Class and I told you that I was scared to talk to him. You encouraged me to walk up to him and speak. You said “he just looks that way but he is very friendly.” You were right about that and so are you. You were the Lady that counseled me over and over again and then when nothing else could be said or prayed you taught me to “press in”.
Where would I be without you both? Would I still be sometimes up and most of the time down? Always learning but never knowing? Probably so.
I thank God for you. More than I will ever be able to express. More than you’ll ever believe.
Happy 10th Bishopric Anniversary! With so much love,Paula Khalea Queen

Bishop Johnson Awarded WithHonorary Doctorate DegreeOn Sunday, August 23, 2009 Bishop Darlingston G. Johnson,
Senior Pastor of Bethel World Outreach Church and
Presiding Prelate of Bethel World Outreach Ministries
International received an honorary doctorate degree from
St. Thomas Christian College located in Jacksonville, Florida.
The special presentation was made by Rev. Dr. Zamekio
Jackson, at the climax of Bethel’s 19th Anniversary
celebratory service.
The awarding of an honorary doctorate is different
because it recognizes life achievement. It is the difference
between the classroom of academia vs. the classroom
of life. In honoring our Bishop, Bethel as a whole was
honored.

Bishop Johnson,
We embarked on this Bishopric journey with you ten years ago, not anticipating that time would go by so quickly. How marvelously has the Lord worked for us in your life during this decade of service to Him. During this period, more than ever, we have observed your faith-fulness and your steadfast obedience to His call. To God be the Glory, great things He has done!
The 2010 Anniversary Planning Committees congratulate you on your achievements this past decade and look forward to witnessing what the Almighty has in store for you and Pas-tor Chrys as you continue in service to Him.
Our prayer for you is that the windows of Heaven are perpetually open over you; that God will provide you, in every situation, op-portunities beyond your most brilliant imagi-nation; that He grants you supernatural wis-dom and strength beyond your every need.
Congratulations again Bishop!
