EcosystemsLiving organisms together with the nonliving components of their environment (air, water and mineral soil), interacting as a system. Linked together through nutrient cycles and energy flows. Can be of any size but usually encompass specific, limited spaces – a pond, an ocean

Ecosystem services

Ecosystem services are the benefits people obtain from �ecosystems

Four categories of ecosystem services

Supporting services(e.g. biodiversity and soil fertility)

Provisioning services(e.g. food, medicines)

Regulating services(e.g. air cleaning, noise reduction, moderation of extreme events like floods and heat waves)

Cultural services(e.g. recreation and health)

Green roofs

Green walls

Research project green roofs

Mobile growing systems

3D greenery

Urban biotopes
