Chapter 6, Transportation - “The purpose of this chapter is to ensure orderly and integrated development of the community’s transportation network, considering not only facilities for automobiles, but also transit, bicycles, and pedestrians.”Adopted May 2009

Bicycle Facilities Bicycle, Pedestrian, & Greenways Master Plan

“A community that provides opportunities to walk to a neighborhood park, jog down a meandering trail, or bicycle to work fosters and promotes a livable city.”

Adopted January 2010

Background 2003 - Non-Residential Architectural (NRA) section included in the original Unified Development Ordinance (UDO)

2004 - UDO amended to include provisions for bike facilities

2015 - UDO amended, bike facilities section relocated for ease of use

Bicycle Facilities Current UDO Requirement Bike racks required if building subject to

Non-Residential Architectural standards

Exceptions Zoning Districts - Business Park Industrial, Light

Industrial, Heavy Industrial, Research & Development, Northgate (NG-1, NG-2, NG-3)

Uses - Churches, Educational Facilities, Municipal Industrial Facilities, Private Utility Buildings

Bicycle Facilities Current UDO Requirements Each site to provide parking for a

minimum of four bikes (more for intense uses)

Bike racks should be located within 150 feet of primary entrance

Bike racks are permitted on sidewalks or other paved surface provided they do not impede pedestrian or vehicle movement
