“Manali” is a hill station in the mountains of
“Himachal Pradesh” near the end of “Kullu” Valley.
It is an altitude of 2050m in the Beas River Valley.
You can visit it any time round the year; it has no
particular time to visit. It is overlapped with snow in
winter, so most of the tourists come here in winter, but
it can be visited in summer due its low temperature.
It is one of the honeymoon destinations, but many people came
here to spend their holiday with family and friends. It has lot
places to visit like “Solang Valley” it drives it names from a
nearest village. It is a side valley at the top of “Kullu Valley”, 14 km northwest of the resort town Manali on the way of
“Rohtang Pass”. It gives you a phenomenal view of glaciers,
snow capped mountains. It has a fine ski slopes, so it is a perfect
place for skiing, never miss the skiing you will like it.

Skiing sport always organizes a festival in winter, it’s really joyful. Skiing makes you craze no matter you

“Rohtang Pass” is jammed in winters due to heavy snowfall, so if you are going to cross it, first you must
listen to the weather forecast, because its name means ‘ground of corpses’ due to the number of people
who lost their lives for struggling to cross it. So need to be careful. It is at an elevation of 13,054 ft, it
serves at the gateway of Lahaul and Spiti valleys with a Buddhist culture. Beside these it also serves as the
gateway to Pangi and the valley of Leh. Like the Zojila Pass, it also serves as the gateway to Ladakh. The
pass lies between the Beas basins and Chinab River. It remains open from June to October. It is most
sightseeing places, beside these it offers for sledge riding and skiing. There is no food available so you
have to carry a food basket.

In “Lahaul and Spiti” district, there is a national
park named as “Pin Valley National Park” , this
region is a cold desert which is adjoined to the
great Himalayan National Park. The rugged
Himalayan terrain has always been a dream
destination for adventure lovers. The park has a
rich flora and fauna, including the Ibex, Snow
Leopard, Red Fox, Marten, Weasel, Pika,
Himalayan Snow Cock, Chukor, Golden Eagle,
Griffon, Snow Partridge, Chough and Raven. The
park is a region of hills, cliffs and mountainous
crevices, interspersed with grassy lower slopes.
Next is the “Hidimba Devi Temple” is a temple dedicated to goddess “Hidimba” wife of Bhima, a hero
of epic Mahabharata. She was a sister of Hidimb, born into Rakhshasa family, When Bhima defeated her
brother, then she married to Bhima, later on they have a son, named as Ghatotakacha, who played an
important role in battle in against to the Kauravas.

Because she was not a deity, so she did not accompany to him and his brothers when they returned from
exile, and stayed back and did tapsya, to eventually attain the status of a goddess. There is no idol inside
in the temple there are only foot prints, many devotees come here for worship. The temple is surrounded
by the cedar forest. It has carved wooden doors, a tall wooden shikhar; the tower consists of three square
roofs covered with timber, tiles and brass cone – shaped roof at the top. The temple base is made of
whitewashed, mud – covered stonework. The wooden doorways are decorated with miniature depictions
of Goddess, attendants, animals and stylized foliation. On the beams above the doorway appear the
Navagrahas, female dancers an isolated scene from the Krishna story.
“Bhrigu Lake” is situated over an altitude of 14,100 meters, in Kullu, to the east of Rohtang. You can go
for trekking from the Gulab village, which is only 6 km far from Rohtang Pass. It is named after ‘Maharishi Bhrigu’ one of sages Saptarihis. The trek is starts from Gulab village to Vashishtha passing through Rola
Kholi, Pandu Ropa by enjoying in lush green meadows, apple orchards will find you along the way. At a
height of 14,000 on the top of the hill the lake never freezes completely. You can take there a hot sulphur
bath.
After these destinations there is one more natural destination is a “Great Himalayan National Park”, is a
habitat to numerous flora and more than 375 fauna species, including approximately 31 mammals, 181
birds, 3 reptiles, 9 amphibians, 11 annelids, 17 mollusks and 127 insects.

There is also a place which is a wild life century, “Manali Sanctuary”. A path from Manali log huts and
Dhungri temple passes through dense Deodar, Kail, Horse chestnut, Walnut and Maple forests. Musk
deer, Monal and Brown bear, Leopard and Snow leopard are some of the common animals seen here.
The both places are protecting the rare and unseen species. It may be you will be scared when you see
these wild animals.
This is the most scenic destination besides sightseeing; it offers various adventure sports, rides, beautiful
