Problems with Statistics?

•What?•How?•When?

Participation StatisticsParticipation?Base on prize entry

forms submitted.Turned in every 2

hours.Not all participation

would be counted if people don’t submit their entries.

How?Prize Entries color

coded for Youth/Adult.

Count New slips every Monday.

Submit the number electronically through the intranet.

Registration StatisticsHow to count all participants? What’s easiest? How to get the best break down by

Schools, Age, Grade, Gender, Branch, City, etc.

Use Evanced Summer Reader Software for all participants.

•We require that all participants self- register •Or be registered online by staff for statistical purposes. •Customers can play online or choose to use the hard-copy game board to play” (most popular option)

Customers register the month prior to the program, but cannot yet track reading.

This allows them to register as they hear about the program, and gives staff more time to enter into E*vanced

Transitioning to Evanced•Year 1- Teens required

•Year 2- Teens required, Adult

and Children “highly

recommended”. 74% of optional

departments chose to enter.

•Year 3- All must be entered.

Prizes and Distribution

Registration Gifts Available at the Start of the Program.

• Preschool =Pirate Ducks• Grade K-5th =Pirate bracelets • Grade 6-12th =Drawstring

backpacks + Chipotle• Adults = Canvas bags +

Chipotle

•Teen and Adult book prizes will be pulled weekly on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. •Children’s book prizes will be awarded as they visit the library to play the game. For each visit, the child will get to pick a card from the Books Ahoy! card deck. If they pull a winning card, the child can choose their book on the spot.

In previous years, we tracked only registration. So all prizes are given to

branches based on the percentage of last year’s registration that their branch achieved.

Good for Registration Prizes, not so great for Books…..

Ship them out?

Initial Shipments by branch based on last year’s registration numbers, print and

prizes.

Ask other branches to share?

•Not Very Successful.

•The Trouble with

Hoarders …

•Bring the Summer Reading Program to patrons who may not be in the position to frequently visit our library

and participate in the traditional Summer Reading Program.

• ROTG Wall Chart to track as a group•Participants still receive registration prizes.
