Studios

BBRK was created in the early 70's by David Bill, David Butt, Peter Richardson and Geoffery Kirkland

They rented three sound stages within Shepperton studios and created thousands of sets over the course of 20 years.

Alan Parker, Ridley and Tony Scott Hugh Hudson, David Bailly, Lester Bookbinder were a few of their many clients.

I was fortunate to join them in 1976.The experience provided the foundations of my career.

1976 Office for Collet Dickenson Pierce

Glass etching for Salisbury Cathedral

BRRK undertook many interior design projects initiating trends like stripped pine, Laura Ashley and Biba

For those of us remembering the 1970's this was actually fashionable then

BBRK produced visual effects and model making in house.

Seeing how these elements came together provided excellent training

This set in the style of Cecil B. D'Mille was part of a series of commercials for Heineken filmed by Alan Parker

There was always a set either being built, filmed or designed.

I was never bored and always inspired.

Backdrop 25 by 50 feet painted in three days by Ken Hill.My Father provided me with the foundations of scenic art - and also my Mother.

Reproduction of a Victorian pub

My first paid job was sorting out the Scene Dock.

I can testify there is absolutely no difference in weight between a 30 foot doric and a 30 foot ionic column..

I learnt how important it was for a designer to be able to express the clarity of the concept visually to all the other professions.

This visual was done by Peter Richardson
