Two additional documents are necessary in order for SNHU to send you form DS-2019 to begin the application process to obtain your J-1 visa.

•Bank/Financial Statement for minimum $22,000USD

•TOEFL Score or Other Evidence of English Proficiency

TOEFL Score 530 (IBT 72-73)IELTS Test Band 6.0

SEVIS Fee

Once you receive the DS-2019 form, the next step is to pay a $180* SEVIS fee, a separate fee from the visa application fee.

Visa Application Process

• Make an appointment and pay the visa application fee by following the instructions at your local US Embassy or Consulate (www.usembassy.gov/)

• Complete the visa application form (DS-160)

• Have one color photo taken which meet the photo requirements

• Attend your visa interview

Documents to bring to your Interview

• Valid Passport• Completed form DS-160• Form DS-160 must be completed on-line and a

copy printed to take along with you to your interview. This form requires you to download a passport-like photo of yourself to submit onto the form so have your photo ready.

• Original bank receipt for your visa application fee

• DS-2019 form issued by SNHU• SEVIS fee receipt• Proof of finances (original bank/financial

statement)• A smile!

Visa Interview

• Expect a short interview, often only a few minutes

• All students are not asked the same questions

• Be knowledgeable about SNHU, be familiar with your program of study and our Web site

• Visa officers make judgments based on their overall assessment of a student’s application. There is no specific thing to show or say that will always result in visa issuance.
