2 Excavate Hole

Oncepondhasbeenexcavated,determinewaterlevelwithatransitorlaserlevel.Idealstandingwaterlevelis1"downfromtopofskimmeropening.Excavateholeforskimmertoproperdepthandsize.

PSA3600D:Holeshouldbe22"widex36"longx181/2"deepbelowwaterlevel.

Makesuretocreateasolid,compactedandlevelbaseinbottomofthehole.Ifanextensiontubeisusedmakesurethatexcavatedholeforskimmer/filterisproperdistancefrompondedge.

3 level the Psa3600D Placetubintoexcavatedhole.ThePSA3600D

mustbelevelfromsidetosideandfronttobackinordertofunctionproperly.Oncelevel,insertblackPVCspreaderbarandinstallthelidtokeepinsideofskimmeralignedandclean.Thenbackfillabout1/3oftheholetokeeptheskimmerinplacewhilefinishinglinerinstallation,rockandlightingplacement.

• Placelargebeadofsilicone(orFirestoneWaterBlock)aroundopening.Placeadabofsiliconeineachboltholeaswell.

• Holdlinerupagainstthefaceoftheskimmer(bestdonebyasecondperson).

• Placethefaceplateassemblyagainsttheskimmer,withflangetowardthepondandweironthebottomoftheassembly.Lineuptheholeswithanawl.Note:Do not place silicone on the surface between the faceplate and the liner only between the skimmer tub surface and the liner.

• Securefaceplateassemblyinplacewithboltsandwashers.

• Oncealltheboltsandwashersareinstalledandtightened,thelinercanbetrimmedfromtheinsideoftheskimmeropening.

• Abeadofsilicone(orFirestoneLapSealant)canthenbeappliedtotheinsideedgeofwherethefaceplateandskimmerjoinforadditionalwatersealant.

• UseTeflontape(inmoderation)onallthreadedconnectionstoensurewatertightseals

• Pre-determinewhichhole(s)willbeusedforoverflowandpumpreturnlines

• Adjustableoverflow:TheincludedPVCelbowcanbeadjustedtocontrolthewaterlevelinthepondbyrotatingtodesiredangle.Thisisusefulforpondsatthebottomofastreamorwaterfallsystemtoaccommodatetheextrawaterwhensystemisshutdown.

6 Connecting the Pump in the Psa3600D• Aproperlysizedcheckvalveassemblyshouldbeattachedtothepump.Lowerthepump

intoskimmerandsecureittotheoutgoingplumbing.

• Ifusingthefittingsprovided,thespigotfittinginsidetheskimmercanbefittedintoarubbercouplerconnectionorslipPVCconnection.

• Otherfittingscanbeused.Thepreinstalledconnectionintheskimmeris2"fpt.

7 Final assembly of the Psa3600D• ThePVCspreaderbarshouldalreadybeinstalledfromStep3.

• Installthefilterbrushrackanddebrisnetintheappropriatepositionforyourskimmer.

• Adjustableoverflow:Theelbowcanbeadjustedtocontrolthewaterlevelinthepondbyrotatingtodesiredangle.Thiscanbeusefulifthepondisatthebottomofastreamorwaterfallsystemthatwouldnormallyoverflowthepondwhenshutoffinatraditionaloverflowsetup.

• Installverticalmediachamberdividersasshown.Holesuponfrontdividerandholesdownonbackdivider.

• InstallthemediabagwithUltimateTubeMedia.

• Installlidandfinishbackfillingexcavatedhole.

Maintenance Theskimmernetandfilterbrushesaredesignedtocollectdebris.Thisdebriswillneedtobecleaned

periodically.Thecleaningfrequencyvariesduetopondlocation.Duringtimesofheavysurfacedebrisitmaybenecessarytocleanthenetandbrushesmoreoften.Failuretocleanoutdebriswillresultinthepumpbeing“starved”forwater.Shuttingthepumpofftocleanthedebrisnetandthefilterbrushesisrecommendedtokeepdebrisoutofthepumpchamber.

Thebiologicalchambercleaningfrequencyvariesbybiological“load”inthepond.Onmostpondsthiscanbedoneonetofourtimesperyear.IftheUltimateTubeMediabeginstorestrictflowitwillbenecessarytoagitatethemedia.WhencleaningtheUltimateTubeMedia,avoidusingchlorinatedcitywaterwhenpossibleaschlorinewillkillthebeneficialbacteriainthemedia.Itwouldberecommendtoaddbeneficialbacteriatreatments(suchasEasyProAllSeasonBacteria)aftercleaningthemediatohelp“recharge”thefilter.

Winterizing• Infreezingclimatesitisrecommendedtoremovethepumpifnotinoperation.Itis

NOTnecessarytodraintheskimmerinthewinter.

• Ifthepondsystemisshutdownforthewinter,theUltimateTubeMediabagshouldberemovedandplacedintothebottomofthepond.Forspringstartupthebagcanberinsedwithpondwatertoremovelargerdebrisandre-installedintothePSA3600Dbiologicalchamber.“Recharge”thefilterbyaddingbeneficialbacteriaisanimportantstepinsuccessfulspringstart-up.
