Program Overview
Deepen AWS Cloud Knowledge and become a Trusted Leader
AWS Training and Certification empowers individuals and teams to
build competence, confidence, and credibility with practical cloud skills.
They can use these skills to innovate, advance their professional future,
and better support customers with essential knowledge of the AWS
Cloud. The AWS Future Skills program gives participants the tools and
resources to develop AWS Cloud skills and to reach their professional
goals.
Our program combines self-paced learning via digital training; hands-on labs for practical learning and
supplemental learning materials such as whitepapers and web resources. By following the training plan
in this guide, participants will be prepared to sit for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
(SAA) exam. This certification validates an individual’s ability to architect and deploy distributed systems
on the AWS Cloud that meet business and customer requirements. With this AWS Certification,
individuals will be confident they can add value to their team when taking on new cloud projects. They’ll
be seen as trusted leaders by clients and team members alike, from meetings to planning sessions.
Participants will also be prepared for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification – which is the
foundational AWS certification. The certification validates an individual’s overall understanding of the
AWS Cloud and may be used by the participant to develop fundamental AWS Cloud skills.
Note: Any certification exam is optional and exam costs are not included in the program.
Who this is for This program is intended for individuals who are in, or aspire to be in, a solutions
architect role but lack AWS Cloud skills. Ideally, this includes individuals with
some experience designing solutions using compute, network, storage, and/or
database technologies in an IT infrastructure and a basic understanding of
automation, application availability, and backup. Program participants will
leverage existing technical knowledge to learn cloud-based solutions
architecture using AWS services. The program timeline and content are tailored
to individuals seeking an accelerated experience that affords them the flexibility
to learn when and where they want.
What to expect The program is structured in weekly blocks of 6 hours, allowing you to manage your studies with
flexibility and complete the training in as little as 12 weeks. The program is self-directed so you may
complete it in less or more time based upon your own progress. You can learn more about these and
other details in the training plan included in this guide.

Included Digital Training AWS Future Skills Program offers on-demand courses for free that help
you learn new cloud skills and services when and where it’s convenient
for you. Three digital courses are included in the program:
AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials:
This foundational course provides a detailed overview of cloud concepts, AWS core services,
security, architecture, pricing, and support. You’ll learn through hands-on lab activity using the
AWS Management Console. If you’re new to the AWS Cloud, start here.
Architecting on AWS:
This course shows you the fundamentals of building IT infrastructure on the AWS platform.
You’ll learn how to optimize the AWS Cloud by understanding AWS services and how they fit
into cloud-based solutions. You’ll explore best practices and design patterns to help you
architect optimal IT solutions on AWS, then build and explore a variety of infrastructures
through guided, hands-on lab activity using the AWS Management Console. You’ll learn how to
create fledgling architectures and build them into robust and adaptive solutions. This digitized
version of our Architecting on AWS classroom course is exclusively provided through this
program. If you already have a basic understanding of the AWS Cloud and its services, and/or
have hands-on experience, start here.
Exam Readiness: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate:
This course helps you prepare for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification
exam. It explores how the exam’s topic areas map to architecting on AWS and other specific
areas to study. The course also reviews sample exam questions in each topic area and teaches
you how to interpret the concepts being tested so that you can more easily eliminate incorrect
responses.
Additional Resources Included in the training plan is supplemental content such as
whitepapers, webpages, and videos to complement or reinforce the
digital training courses and prepare you for your certification exam.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect –
Associate Certification This program is designed to help you prepare to earn the AWS Certified
Solutions Architect - Associate certification. This certification is intended
for individuals who perform a solutions architect role and have one or
more years of hands-on experience designing available, cost-efficient,
fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems on AWS.
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner – Foundational Certification
The training in this program will also prepare you to earn the foundational AWS Certified Cloud
Practitioner certification, which validates an overall understanding of the AWS Cloud. This is an optional
step toward achieving an Associate-level certification, such as the AWS Certified Solutions Architect -
Associate certification. If you attain the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification, it is
assumed you already possess the knowledge required for Cloud Practitioner certification.
Note: Any certification exam is optional and exam costs are not included in the program.

Course and Lab Support Information Accessing Your In-Progress Courses To quickly get back to your courses, use the following steps:
Sign in to your training account here
Your In-Progress training will occur on the dashboard
Lab Time Out Each lab has a specific set time. When you Launch the lab, you can see that time in the upper right portion
of the lab web page, next to the Start lab button.
When you click Start lab, the clock timer begins. The clock timer is displayed in the upper right portion of
the lab web page.
Once the timer begins, you will see the End lab button.
Labs have a time-out value that cannot be paused. When you end your lab session either by clicking End
lab or the time for the lab session expires, the resources that you created in your lab will be cleaned up
(deleted). When you click End lab, you will get a message that you need to confirm you are ending the lab
and the AWS resources in the lab will be unavailable afterwards.

Single Session Labs Unfortunately, you cannot open a new lab if a previous lab is still running. You can only have one lab open
at a time. If you encounter a problem starting a lab, make sure that you end any previous lab. When you
click Launch Lab, it starts the lab in the background in the browser window. If you close that browser
window, it will show that the lab is running in the background. If this happens, you might see the following
window:
In this case, just go to that same lab, by clicking OPEN CURRENT LAB. Click Start lab and End lab to fix the
issue.
When working on labs, make sure that you use a single browser for the entire lab.
If a lab shows as Completed, you can still do the lab again.
Course Timing
The course timing shown reflects the video run time with a small amount of additional buffer time for
most modules. The AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials – Transcript PDF should help to reduce playback and
will help with notes.
AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials Course Completion
The AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials course contains multiple modules. When you Launch a module, you
should see your status as In Progress. When a module is completed, you should see your status as
Completed. To ensure completion for each module video, complete each knowledge check and make sure
that you see the final page which is Module Completion. This page indicates that you’ve completed this
module and you may close this window. Once this is done, go back to your AWS Cloud Practitioner
Essentials course and refresh the page (browser). The status should now show as Completed. If it still does
not show as Completed, refer to the Getting Help section below in this document.
