the activities of ENVIS centre for Phoenix School of higher class students at
EPTRI campus on 08.02.2016.

Monitoring with Respect to Air Noise Water & Soil” and Dr. Jyothi
(Programme Officer)briefed about the activities of ENVIS centre for Masters
Students of Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) at EPTRI campus on

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
World Environment Day was observed on June 5th every year. This year, the
focused theme is on the need to curb poaching and illegal wildlife trade to
ensure survival of threatened species in the wild. The stress is to bring
awareness in wild life poaching and say No to buying illegal wildlife products.
The highlight of the celebrations was a march “Green Rally” from Necklace
Road Railway Station to Jalvihaar Water Park, Hyderabad and was released by
Hon’ble Minister for Environment & BC Welfare, Shri Jogu Ramanna Garu,
Govt. of Telangana.
The Highlight of the event was participation of school Children along with Shri
Vikas Raj, IAS, Secretary Environment, Forests, Science and Technology, Shri B.
Kalyan Chakravarthy, IAS, Director General, EPTRI AND Shri. V. Anil Kumar
IAS, Member Secretary of Telangana Pollution Control Board, Teachers,
Volunteers, NGO's, ENVIS Team and other officials. There was also an
Exhibition at Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium where ENVIS centres Activities
and Knowledge Products were put on display for participants and visitors.
Distribution of prizes was done to the winners of drawing competition in
three categories which was conducted on the eve of the World Environmental
Day on 25 May, 2016.

Mass Plantation Program by ENVIS Centre under Haritha Haram Program
About Haritha Haram Program
The Hon’ble Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has launched the Haritha
Haram program. Chief Minister has directed the official to plant over 40 crore
saplings under Haritha Haram programme in the State as soon as the rains begin.
He said that ‘Haritham Siva Sundaram’ should be the motto of the programme.
Directed that Haritha Haram should be carried out over the next four years with
the motto to increase the forest cover in the State from 24 per cent to about 33 per
cent.
In this connection, ENVIS Centre has conducted Mass plantation programme as
part of Haritha Haram at different organization, schools, IT sector, etc. ENVIS team
so far has planted 16100 saplings.

ENVIS centre, EPTRI has organized a mass plantation progam under Haritha
Haram. Sri. Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao, IT, Municipal Administration & Urban
Development, Industries & Commerce, Public Enterprises, Sugar, Mines & Geology,
NRI Affairs, Govt. of Telangana, India and Principal Secretary to Industries and
Commerce Department Sri. Arvind Kumar, IAS on 8th July, 2016. Mr. KTR has
taken part in Haritha haram and planted saplings in EPTRI. All the employees of
EPTRI have actively participated in Haritha Haram program.
