than before by examining traditional food culture. This

It is good to know that there is an educational program for
students from many Asian countries working together by
teams. I believe that this is a great opportunity for all of
you to show each other's nation identity, exchange cultures
and expand your friendship network. Since the program
theme is eating habits, you might have many opinions to
share and discuss with your team members. I hope that

【12】Feedback from Participating Students (Excerpts from questionnaires and interviews):
I expected to widen my view by communicating with students from other countries, and I could make lots of
friends through this program in the end. After this program, I will try to set up a social media account to have
more people’s awareness of eating habits.
(TIANJIN BIN HAI NEW AREA ZI YUN HIGH SCHOOL, China)
I will start to improve the environment from myself. I may call on my friends and classmates not to waste food,
and give lectures to students at school about how to protect our environment. In addition, I learned that it was
very important to keep the whole team in harmony being cooperative in order to finalize the idea as a team.
(TIANJIN TANGGU NO. 1 HIGH SCHOOL, China)
I worked so hard with my team members to summarize our idea to come up with proposal for presentation
during the whole week. I think this is not just winning the competition. Working with team members is a very
good experience for me to learn about cooperation and leadership.
(SMAN 1 Padalarang, Indonesia)
It was a good experience for me to participate in this program because I learned many things from team
members and discussion. It was also a great opportunity to exchange cultural information with students from
other countries and to make many friends. All of us worked very hard until the last day and it paid off in the end.
(SMAN 6 Kota Bekasi, Indonesia)
I expected to broaden my views by talking to many students from different countries as well as improving my
English skills. even though it was very hard for me to tell things to others, our team members could achieve a
consensus after a long discussion. After finishing this program, I will try to tell my opinions more strongly when
there is a chance to have this kind of program in the future.
(Kanazawa Izumigaoka SHS, Japan)
I learned many things. We came up with many different ideas. Student from each country had his or her idea so
it was very interesting to listen to them. We shared our ideas and we discussed a lot and this process made our
team better. Team members always listened to others opinion and tried to make the best result.
(Kobe Municipal Fukiai High School, Japan)
I learned that cultural and ethnic diversity can be a strength since it allows people to view on issue from multiple
perspectives, which leads to more well-rounded solutions. Although Japan’s obesity issue is on a much smaller
scale than other countries such as U.S. and Mexico. Obesity is rising in children. To combat this, I would try to
teach young children about healthy diets through volunteerism. (American School, Japan)
16
Food waste issue interest me during the program because I saw this problem in many places. I learned that it was
important to work with team members who had different
cultural background by listening to other's opinion.
(BANGKOK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, Thailand)
I have learned to listen to other people’s opinions and work as a team by communicating all the time. I will start
with myself by becoming a great example of a person who has a proper and healthy diet, so that I can create
impact and influence this healthy eating habits to my friends and family.
(Triamudomsuksa School, Thailand)
Our team members were very nice, kind, and friendly, so we had a great time working as a team
during this program. We could talk about cultural differences and exchange opinions by discussing the whole day to
achieve our goal. It would be great if we could meet past participants of Asia Youth Leaders to exchange more
ideas.
(NGUYEN THUONG HIEN HIGH SCHOOL, Vietnam)
I learned that team working was not only just putting stress on people but to respect others' work and ideas.
Moreover, it was really interesting to meet Asian students as we could study about others' culture and share
opinions related to their countries. After the program was finished, I would like to spread and share ideas about
eating habits with my friends and family.
(MARIE CURIE HIGH SCHOOL, Vietnam)
I wanted to enhance my English skills more through participating in discussion and presentation. Working on
proposal by team was a good experience for me to study more about leadership skills as well.
(SEKOLAH MENENGAH KEBANGSAAN METHODIST SHING CHUNG SUNGAI SIPUT (U) , Malaysia)
I learned that working with other people is honestly not an easy task but when we finally realize what leadership
means everything will go smoothly. I also learned that having team work really makes something into a big
success. I am glad that I exchanged stories and culture with my friends. We really had a great time and I will
remember all of it.
(SEKOLAH MENENGAH KEBANGSAAN PUTRAJAYA PRESINT 14 (1), Malaysia)
