Intertextually- Homage & Pastiche

Pastiche- they imitate the work of previous artist such as Madonna

Glee is a Mashup of music, videos and popular culture

Some are new and old for example

Simulation

Glee is a simulation of reality

'Fame' & 'High school musical' use purpose written musical scores

Whereas Glee features real musical scores from pop icons

Plurality

Plurality- is when there is multiple stories and multiple identities

Glee has plurality because there are many characters who have their own personal story

Nostalgic

The fusion of Madonna songs had elements of nostalgia as they were addressed throughout the show.

This was because the songs were old and classical.

Madonna was influential before and now

Nostalgic & Self- Reflexivity

For example 'Express yourself' and 'What it feels like for a girl'

Encouraged the audience to pay attention to issues that are happening in the real world

Message was for boys to treat girls with respect

This was because their personalities throughout the show was misogynistic and empowering
