Legislação
In the initial IMO strategy, there is a clear ambition to pursue
efforts towards phasing out GHG emissions from
international shipping entirely, by the end of this century.
This has to become a reality.

Main goal of SE@PORTS - Sustainable
Energy at Sea PORTS project is to assess
existing Wave Energy Converters (WEC) on
their suitability to be integrated in port
infrastructure and bring the selected
concepts of WEC’s to the next TRL. This
will be achieved through an innovative WEC
concept specifically designed to be
implemented in seaport breakwaters, in
order to take advantage of their high
exposure to the ocean waves.

Sustentabilidade
Sea ports need high-energy supplies and are a source of air pollution, two environmental problems that can be minimized by using renewable energy. Considering the convergence of resources, infrastructures and facilities in ports, marine renewable energy arises as a promising alternative.PORTOS aims to assess, develop and promote the integrated use of renewable energy resources in Atlantic Area ports and increase their energy efficiency, establishing a roadmap to a more competitive andsustainable sector.

Duration: 2020 - 2022
EALING project aims to develop a feasibility study proposing a concrete approach towards the establishment of a
suitable framework for the transition to electrification for 16 EU maritime ports involved in the consortium in
different sea basins that decided to adapt to the new regime of alternative fuels utilization in the maritime sector:
Mediterranean Sea (Valencia, Barcelona, Ancona, Trieste, Monfalcone, Venice, Piraeus, Rafina and Koper), Black Sea
(Constanta, Varna and Burgas), Atlantic Sea (Gijon, Huelva, Leixoes and Azores) and North Sea (North Sea Irish ports
via the Irish Maritime Development office).
