Applying the Artist’s style to your portrait painting

Who is the artist that will inspire your painting style.

Portrait in the style of an artistObjective: You will analyze colors, brush strokes,

and shapes in order to describe an artist’s style and apply it to your painting.

DRILL:1. Get an iPad to review the 2 artists

that you chose last week. There are about 10 more amazing artist on new slide show- Applying the Style.

2. Today’s goals:1. Fill out info about your 2 artists to

describe their styles.2. Try to use their painting style on

your portrait painting from Friday. (or new one)

3. Do you need to take a new photo to draw that will make it look more like your artist?

Drawing portrait for Painting Objective: You will analyze and describe an artist’s work in order

to imitate and translate their style on your painting.

DRILL: Read carefully!!!!

1. You have 5 choices to draw self-portrait on canvas:

1. Draw directly onto canvas.2. Draw from pic into sketchbook, trace,

enlarge to canvas from transparency. 3. Trace your final pencil drawing to

transparency.4. Use mega photo contour lines, look at

that and redraw in sketchbook, then enlarge from transparency.

5. Re-draw mega photo contours directly onto canvas.

1. Self portrait2. On Canvas3. Use acrylic paint4. Shade with paint and use

painting techniques.5. Inspired by an artist.6. Finished by Thursday and in

the Art Show.7. Neatness8. Thick paint- no canvas showing

9. Composition- face not in the middle

10.Facial features and proportions are accurate.
