Act of Contrition “O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you, and I detest all my sins, because of your just punishments, but most of all because they offended you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin.” Lent The annual Lenten season is the fittto climb the holy mountain of Easter. The Lenten season has a double character, namely to prepare both catechumens and faithful to celebrate the paschal mystery. The catechumens, both with the rite of election and scrutinizes, and by catechesis, are prepared for the celebration of the sacraments of Christian initiation; the faithful, ever more attentive to the word of the God and prayer, prepare themselves by penance for the renewal of their baptismal promises
