Annual Quality Assurance Report
(AQAR_2010 – 11)
Introduction:
Internal Quality Assurance Cell is working towards the quality sustenance and
quality developments in our college. We are planning, executing and analyzing the
development activities for improvement of quality of higher education. We are feeling
immense pleasure to present Annual Quality Assurance Report for the academic year
2010 – 11. The report contains series of activities; we are conducting throughout the year
in our college to improve quality of the higher education. All these activities are analyzed
on quality parameters and quality activities are continued for coming years. We are
putting our sincere efforts to implement various quality policies for improvement in
administration, teaching and learning, extension and research activities. We have
identified various thrust areas in higher education for overall quality development of the
institute. We are planning and implementing various activities for the improvement in
these thrust areas. At the start of every year each department prepares annual plan
according to these thrust areas and conducts activities according to the plan.
Student is epicenter and important stakeholder of higher education, whose
personality development depends upon his/ her academic, co curricular and
extracurricular development. Therefore, every teacher chalks out teaching plan at the start
of academic year. The academic planning is well supported by various co curricular and
extracurricular activities. We are conducting activities like seminars, workshops,
competitions, quizzes and training programmes for students; which is important for
thorough understanding of the subject. The student participation in such activities yields
encouraging performance in academic results. Along with regular teaching aids, we are
also using computer supported technology for effective teaching in the classrooms. Last
year, we have received affiliation from University of Pune, Pune for Bachelor of
Computer Application (BCA) programme. This year we are applying for the permission
to University of Pune, Pune to start second year of the programme.
Along with academic achievements, overall personality development of student
can be possible through proper planning and implementation of extracurricular, social

and extension activities. These planning and implementation was done through many
committees formed in the institute and programmes such as NCC and NSS. We are
implementing various cultural, social, skill oriented and personality development
programmes for the students through these committees. This year we have started an
innovative and unique ‘orientation programme’ for new entrants of the college. The
orientation programme was conducted at the beginning of academic year for the first year
degree students. The aim of the programme is to inculcate personality development skills,
to increase career awareness among the student. The programme also imparts knowledge
about college and college activities to the students. Every year we are conducting Soft
Skill Development Programme for third year students initiated by University of Pune.
This programme introduces various life skills such as motivation, confidence
development, resume writing, interview skills, etc. Many students get good exposure at
state, national level by participating in various camps organized under NSS or NCC.
Students are participating in social programmes such as polio vaccination, tree plantation,
etc. through NSS or NCC. The sports department of our college provides good platform
to students for their proper physical development. The achievements by sport persons are
a matter of pride for the college. We are providing necessary financial and infrastructural
support for the development of sports department. Every year, we are trying to enrich the
library with books, journals and magazines. This year we have subscribed to Inflibment
‘N-list’ for the online research journals as per the guidelines and financial assistance
received from UGC. We are also upgrading technological advancements in library
activities such as bar-coding, internet nodes, CD’s, e-books etc.
All the staff members are contributing their share for the quality enhancement of
institute by many means. Many staff members are involved in research activities either
for their M. Phil., Ph. D. work or through research projects sanctioned by various
agencies like UGC, New Delhi and BCUD, University of Pune, Pune. Our institute is
motivating staff members to participate in national, international conferences, seminars,
workshops as well as in orientation, refresher programmes for their professional
development. Staff members are also involved in publishing their work through books,
research papers in journals or presentations in conferences. Many staff members are
contributing their role in social activities by participating in various programmes

organized by parent institute or delivering lectures in social programmes. Every year we
are organizing conference, seminar or workshop to update and improve the knowledge of
students and staff members. This year we have organized a national conference on
‘Frontiers of Life Sciences’ organized by botany, zoology and microbiology departments
by the financial assistance of UGC, New Delhi. This year we have also organized one
state level seminar by Library on ‘Sahitya Vachnache Mahatva (Importance of Reading
Literature)’. In this seminar, renowned authors in Marathi literature have presented their
views to student participants regarding importance of literature reading. We have also
organized a state level workshop for ‘Self Help Groups’ by Department of Economics.
This seminar was a step for women empowerment, which is one of objective of our
institution. In both of these state level seminars many participants from all over the state
were actively participated. Along with these state level seminars we have also organized
two university level seminars. One of the state level seminars was organized by
Department of Sociology and other one was organized by Department of Hindi. We are
also trying to provide good infrastructural facility at all parts of institute by improving
laboratories, staff rooms, wash rooms, etc.
IQAC plays a vital and mentoring role in planning and implementing all these
developments. We are expecting that NAAC will appreciate our sincere efforts for the
quality improvement in higher education.
