Animal husbandry

Cattle farming :-

• It is the act of raising and breeding cattle for the production of meat or milk.

• They are milk production and farm labour. Milk producing females-milch animals and farm labour - draught animals.

• Indian cattles belongs to - BOS INDICUS - COWS,BOS BUBALIS-BUFFALOES.

POULTRY FARMING :-

POULTRY FARMING IS DONE FOR EGG PRODUCTION AND CHICKEN MEAT.

IMPROVED POULTRY BREEDS ARE DEVELOPED TO PRODUCE LAYERS FOR EGGS AND BROILERS FOR MEAT.

BROILER CHICKENS ARE FED WITH VITAMIN, PROTEIN AND FAT RICH FEED FOR BETTER GROWTH.

FISH PRODUCTION

• finned true fish As well as shellfish such as prawns and molluscs.

• Another way is by fish farming which is called as culture fishery.

The water source of a fish

• Can be either sea water or fresh water, such as river and ponds.

• Done by both capture and culture of fish in marine and freshwater eco system.

• MARINE FISHERIES

• INLAND FISHERIES

Marine fisheries

• India’s marine fishery resources include 7500 km of coastline and the deep seas beyond it.

• Marine fish are caught using many kind’s of fishing nets from fishing boats.

• Some marine fish of high economic value are also farmed in seawater.

INLAND FISHERIES

• Are grown in a small area like ponds, canals, rivers.

• While capture is also done in inland water bodies.

BEE KEEPING• making honey has become an agriculture

enterprise.• Since beekeeping needs low investments ,• farmers use it as an additional income generating

activity.
