Anger is "an emotional state that varies in intensity from mild irritation to intense fury

and rage."

Myths about ANGER Anger is unhealthy or destructive.

Anger is an all-or-nothing phenomenon

If you don’t let your anger out,

it builds and explodes out.

That angry people yell and scream a lot.

That anger management means

keeping your mouth shut.

Anger is a normal and even healthy emotion

— but its important to deal with it in a positive way.

Uncontrolled anger can take a toll on both your health and your relationships.

FACTS ABOUT ANGER Not all anger is unhealthy or Destructive.

Sometimes Anger is Justified.

Anger is not an All-or-Nothing Phenomenon.

Anger typically occurs in degrees, ranging from mild annoyance to rage.

It is not always necessary to let your anger out.

Anger does not work like steam in a kettle. It is not necessary to release it in order to avoid explosion.

All angry people yell or scream.

People can talk politely even in anger.

Sources of Anger

AVOIDING IS NOT THE SOLUTION

Sometimes people avoid others when they are angry so they won’t show the anger or take it out on others. This can be helpful at times, but it can also lead to isolation and passivity--not dealing with problems, so never solving them.

Say sorry at the right moment to reduce the anger of others.

Try to settle things down as soon as possible, don’t

keep grudges.
