Floods IN THE WORLD

Types of floods: Flood - recurrent rather long rise in water level in rivers, usually caused

by spring snowmelt in plains or rainfall. Flooding - intensive relatively short rise in water level in the river caused

by heavy rains, rains, sometimes rapid melting of snow during thaws. Wort - clogging the channel stationary ice cover, and a heap of ice floes

during spring break at narrow and meandering river channel, feel free to flow and causing the water level rise in accumulation of ice and above it.

Ice jams - an ice plug, the accumulation of frazil, loose ice during the winter freeze-up at narrow and meandering riverbed, causing the rise of water in some areas above the main channel of the river.

Wind surge - is the rise of the water level in marine estuaries of major rivers and coastal areas on windy seas and large lakes, reservoirs, caused by exposure to strong wind on the water surface.
