Anand is a humanist, a Proletarian or Marxist humanist.
He does not believe in the theory of Árts for Arts sake’ but writes for the sake of life

Anand’s humanism makes him a novelist with a mission
His mission being to write for the betterment and uplift of the under-dog society.
Both Untouchable and Coolie , he deals with the misery and wretchedness of the poor and their struggle for a better life.
