APATC Chair’s Message

The AIAA APATC's purpose is to represent the technical community engaged in analysis, design, research and development in applied aerodynamics of airborne and surface vehicles.

The technical activities of the Committee are to provide a focus for the development, verification, and application of aerodynamic analysis and design techniques and to provide a forum for the exposure of innovative aerodynamic concepts. Special attention will be given to correlations of state-of-the-art aerodynamic computer codes with wind tunnel and flight test data to determine the theory's capabilities and usefulness in the vehicle design process. Generic aerodynamic research and configuration optimization will be fostered for all classes of air vehicles and surface vehicles for which aerodynamics is a significant design discipline. Application of configurational and conceptual aerodynamics of advanced concepts for cruise and high angle-of-attack conditions at all speeds will be encouraged. The Committee will sponsor technical sessions, meetings, workshops and study seminars to satisfy the needs for increased peer interaction for AIAA members with primary interests in applied aerodynamics and related technical fields n
