Champions for Christ Congratulations to The Mechanicville Varsity Girls basketball team that recently won the Class B title last week against Fonda. As they were preparing for the state playoffs, the team was concerned about receiving ashes, as they were preparing to travel to Plattsburgh the morning of Ash Wednesday. The girls wanted to start off Lent by remembering they belong to Jesus. Fr. Pat offered to give ashes to the girls, their coaches, parents, and other members of the team the morning before their departure. The girls inspire us by their faith and their team spirit!

Faith Formation, grades K-5 - Mary Krasuski Learning About the Saints
Faith Formation Classes focused on who the Saints are in their classes this year. The saints were people just like us who come from all walks of life and from all over the world. They weren’t born saints but were ordinary people who lived ordinary lives and did difficult things even when they didn’t want to because they loved God. They can be examples of how we can live our lives. Some saints the classes chose to learn about include St. Anthony, St. Nicholas, St. Elizabeth, St. Mother Teresa, St. Bernadette, and St. Gabriel, St. Michael, and St. Raphael the Archangel.

Musician’s Corner This weekend our readings speak about the Transfig-uration of Christ, and so the music reflects upon this as we sing hymns about the Light of Christ. This can be found especially in the closing hymn this weekend, “Beautiful Savior” - an old stalwart in the Christian faith. Pay special attention to the third verse of the hymn, where it speaks of Jesus to “shine brighter; shine fuller” and the tie in with Christ being Transfigured before his disciples on the mountain.
