The Digital Practitioner
Programme
National Local – Best City | 100% Digital Leeds
Discovery
My son [Anthony], lives an
hour’s drive away. I’d like him
to be more in my care by using
something like Skype in
consultations
Some patientswere already using
digital themselves,
and others wanted
the option to…
I have OCD and wish more things, even accessing care, was
available online or through an app as I find phone calls very
difficult and sometimes cannot leave the house. Without Internet I
would be dead
Break the
Circle of Silence
Mindful
conversations
about digital
information, products &
services that could
support wellbeing &
recovery
Confidence
Permission
Sustainability
Practitionerscould see a use for
digital, but there
were barriers to
using it…
Some patientswere already using
digital themselves…

2nd Model Iteration
2nd Model iteration
challenges
• NMoC: various challenges halted progression at the end of the ‘Start up’
phase
• NMoC: already used other channels of communication and didn’t want to
add ‘Slack’ to the list
• OT: Online community dried up
– Clinical staff on regular visits/ward duty
– Old mobile phones meant app with ‘notify’ couldn’t be used
• OT/NMoC: Lunch time Digital Café attendance poor
– Inner city parking
– Travel time
• Remaining barriers
– Suitable Kit | Good enough access |Restrictive policy | Non-standard
policy across organisations | IT Services support
3rd Model iteration
Preparing to scale up
• Shorter intervention – from 5 months to 6 weeks
• Blend of online and offline learning and activity
• FutureLearn platform (under HEE’s partnership)
• Team manager acts as sponsor with a nominated coordinator

• Clinician stories on their experience to demonstrate ease/value
• Team led improvement based on real problem
• Collaboration forum to encourage broader discussions and support
• Tutor support
• Opportunity to gain ‘certificate of achievement’ for CPD
Final Reflections
• Kit & supporting infrastructure
