Tip: If drive C is the intended drive for the
operating system, disconnect any other drives whilst installing Windows 8.
Reason: In our case Windows installed a partition entitled BOOTMGR on a hard drive that was not Drive C.
Solution: Disconnect drives (other than C) and run “Repair your Computer”. Reboot.
Delete unwanted boot manager partition.
Windows 8 Install.
Problem: Windows 8 Upgrade won’t activate. Solution: Simple edit of Registry. References:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/ Windows/CurrentVersion/Setup/OOBE/
iii. Double click on MediaBootInstall and change the value from 1 to 0.iv. From Command Prompt (Admin) execute slmgr /rearm and reboot.v. Activate Windows 8 again using Product Key.
Win. 8 Upgrade: Clean Install
Tip: Disable the Hibernation file. Justification: Rarely used on Desktop
