When I think of being a pilot for the air force its for the country and to fulfill my only dream job. Most of the people that are fighter pilots do it for their country their not looking for rewards.

Tasks & Responsibilities

They develop flight plans showing air routes. Perform combat maneuvers, transport equipment, and patrol areas to carry out flight missions. Responsible for combat missions and crew.

Working

When you’re a fighter pilot you can be called up at any time. They have to learn all the controls and procedures. This job is unique because you have to have good reflexes and have a cool head under pressure.

Work Enviroment

Airplane pilots may be stationed at airbases or aboard aircraft carriers anywhere in the world. They fly in all types of weather conditions. Military pilots take off and land on airport runways and aircraft carrier landing decks.

Working Hours

The hours that you work depend on what rank you are. Your always on the move if your on a air craft carrier.

Skills & Abilities

Determination to complete a very demanding training program. Self-confidence and ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Strong desire to fly airplanes

Education & Training Pilot training is a 2 year program. Initial training includes time spent in flight simulators, classroom training, officer training, and basic flight training. Course content typically includes:Aircraft aerodynamicsFederal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulationsFoul weather flyingJet and propeller engine operationOperation of aircraft navigation systems

You also have to have a 4 year college degree

Career outlook

In peace time the services have about 16,000 airplane pilots. In times of military action the number may be different, depending on the type of specialties required.

Advancement

You can advance in your rank. If you move up in rank you get paid more and have more opportunities to fly special missions.
