I am a physicist and longstanding specialist in acoustic emission, a nondestructive testingmethod for monitoring the deformation behavior of materials under stress and evaluating theintegrity of engineered structures. This specialty was the doorway to interests in physicalacoustics, materials science and electronics. My career has been with the leadingmanufacturers of acoustic emission instrumentation. It has included research, applicationsdevelopment, instrument development, and personnel training and personnel qualification. Ihave authored numerous publications, received several awards and am actively involved withthe ASTM, ASNT, ASME and ISO committees that deal with this field.
