HOLIDAY 2012
Adopt a Pet Christmas Program Adopt a pet between December 16 -23 and it can be delivered to your home Christmas morning. The Animal Rescue League will be fulfilling the dream or wish of finding a puppy or kitten under the Christmas tree. Adopt a pet between December 16 -23 and for an additional $25.00, your new family member will be delivered to your home on Christmas morning between 6 – 10am. The delivery area will be limited to a 20 mile radius from the shelter and the total number of deliveries will be limited to 30.
Given people’s lifestyles, Christmas is one of the few times of the year they can take time off and really bond with their new family
member. People will still have to go through the Adoptions process. The Animal Rescue League will test the animals to assure they are good with children, just not the ones the puppy is going to, so it can be a surprise.

pet isn’t helping himself/herself to leftovers or getting into the garbage. High calorie holiday offerings can mean upset stomachs later.
Decorations can be attractive for your pet. Make sure that valu-able ornaments are not at a level that might entice your pet. Trimmings such as tinsel and garland can seem interesting for your pet to eat, but can wreak havoc on a digestive system.
Changes in your schedule or in the frequency of visitors can con-fuse your pet. If you don’t normally
have visitors, don’t expect your pet to automatically match the rise in your social activity. If your dog or cat seems bothered by visitors, be sure to provide them with a quiet, familiar place where they can relax and aren’t forced to interact. If you do have social pets, have your visitors help reward good behavior by reinforcing good manners such as greeting people with all four paws on the floor. You can do this by having pet treats available for people to pass out, but only when your pet does things that get him put on the nice list.
Make sure that you take some time to spend time with your pet. The holiday season often leaves us rushing around trying to accomplish a multitude of tasks in an incredibly short period of time. Spending a few minutes relaxing with a cat on your lap or petting your favorite dog can help take the edge off of what can be an otherwise stressful time of year.
Holiday Pet Tips! The holiday season is both an exciting and a stressful time for both people and their furry com-panions. Here are a few suggestions to help make the season a bit more, well, jolly.
Inclement weather can mean less exercise which can lead to boredom and frustration for some pets. You can build in a little exer-cise by playing games with your pet. Interactive cat wands are great ways to help entertain your cat. Dogs can benefit from a bit of creativity on our part. Games like hide and seek or practicing recalls up and down a staircase can allow your dog to use their brain and their muscles when the weather outside is at its most frightful.
Be mindful of what you are serving your human guests to eat. Keep an eye out so that your
