Loyola Press has developed Adaptive Learning Kitsthat use tested, proven strategies to prepare individuals with autism and other learning challenges to fully participate in the Catholic faith.

Reconciliation Flip Bookand I’m Sorry Cards

Introduces the steps in the process of celebrating the sacrament and helps individuals communicate contrition.

I Am Forgiven Sequence Puzzle

Helps individuals realize the impact of their actions and learn the “sequence” of forgiveness.

Jesus Forgives Instructional Story

Teaches that God loves us, forgives us, and restores us.

Jesus Wants Us to Make Good Choices Matching Puzzle

Helps the individual associate Jesus with good choices.

Good Choice/Bad Choice Cards

Helps individuals recognize good and bad choices.

Examination of Conscience Instructional CardHelps individuals evaluate how they may have hurt God or other people with their thoughts, words, or actions.

I Celebrate Reconciliation Picture Book

Invites individuals to celebrate the sacrament with confidence, comfort, and joy.

Act of Contrition Instructional CardThis adapted version of the traditional long form allows individuals with special needs to acknowledge sins, ask God for forgiveness, and express desire to repent.

Helper Guide

Explains how to use each component in the kit to meet the USCCB requirement of having a sense of contrition to fully experience and celebrate the sacrament.

Backpack

Used to transport all the components to and from church, home, or faith formation classes.

Our hope is that these kits will enable many people to participate fully in their faith, people who otherwise might not be able to receive the Sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation.
